Personally I dig the colder weather... the colder it is outside the more tolerable my working conditions are. :)

I hate the cold. I'm forever cold, and it being cold doesn't help. Plus Steve doesn't like it when I put my artic feet right behind his knees.

I can't wait for spring/summer :)

I'm looking into trading my bike in on a new (2002 leftover) katana 600... When are we gonna go riding, Marty?

Marty
02-05-2003, 08:23 PM
Hey Scuba!!

We can go riding anytime--We are usually out 5 times a week, and all day on Saturdays. Are you sure you want a Katana?? They are very heavy and lack alot of top end speed. I have rode all the 600's, and that that was my least favorite of them all.

Gimme a holler anytime when it gets nice--I usually meet up with one of my good friends over at State College.

Ride On Brother!!!!!!!!!!

Marty

PS:
here's my ride::cool:

Are you sure you want a Katana??

Pretty sure, yeah... I like the way it looks, and heavy is no problem for me. Actually, if I could afford another car payment, I would get a harley. That is heavy...

I could see scuba riding a Harley.

Just look at me... Which looks more natural, flashy colors and plastic or a big hunk of black steel and chrome? *heh*

There's nothing wrong with harley's I like them better. crotch rockets aren't as cool sounding. I like deep and grumbly. Can't wait to sell the coug and get my TA back :)

Advantages:

The Sound of a Harley could make a rocket fall apart..
The Speed of a Ducati 996A would pull the body parts of the Harley as it passed it.

I'd take the ducati just because I love speed.

I could care less about the speed... I also know that I would be sacrificing reliability with a Harley. I've got a bike right now that is 15 years old and it runs like a raped ape, and doesn't give me any problems whatsoever. Its still all about having 800 lbs of steel and chrome between your legs. Besides, Harley riders are the only ones who can pull off the chaps and leather vest look... ;)

Everyone I know who owns a Harley....Well here is what a typical day would be:

Ride bike 1 hr

Wash bike 3 hrs

Repair bike 4 hrs!:rofl::)

Sorry guys--I'll pick the rockets anyday--Besides Thre are alot of really cool guys (and girls) who ride them.:grouphug:

Either way--I'm sure all bike riders can't wait for spring!

Hey Merc--Stopped by a Ducati shop near Pittsburgh last summer--Very nice bikes, but the seats were made for racing (very hard like a board), and they were about $16000 to start. Still wouldn't mind owning one if money wasn't an issue. Especially the 999 with the custom paint job.

My Harley is 13 yrs old and I have no problems with it. That includes 5k miles each summer. I love my bike and the only edge that rice rockets have is top end, if only my bike had a 6th gear or a 5th for that matter. Plus you can ride alot longer on a Harley than you can a ricer w/o your back killing you. Just my 2 cents  As long as you're in the wind who cares what you're riding.

I'll have to agree with you on that one. My first long trip on my bike was last May when my dad and I went on the Ride Across Maryland to benefit the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation. I had to stop every couple of hours because I was getting all kinds of cramped up, but nonetheless it was still a great ride.

I could handle a quick trip around the block. Last time I took my bike out was Thanksgiving, and that's just been way too long to not ride.

We should start a new chapter of NECO, the Biker NECO chapter. The only requirement would be that you have a motorcycle and a cougar... There seems to be alot of us that have bikes or have had bikes.

COCO--

I hear ya there! I put 14000 miles on my 02 R6 last summer, and I think the last time I was out was the first of November. Just watched the forecast on TV and they are still calling for 44 on Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed!

Since everyone is talking about bike's, I'll ask here. I'm looking to starting riding this summer. Any recommendations on nice bikes to look into getting?

coco

It depends on what kind of bike you're interested in. You looking for a crotch rocket, or a cruiser?

Marty
02-21-2003, 06:29 PM
Hey there ShipUGrad--

Have you ever rode a bike regularly before? Like moto-cross at all?? If you have good knowledge with riding a bike, I would get a 600 if you are looking at the sportbikes. I started with a Ninja 500, and I had a chance to learn (since I have never rode a bike before), and really had a great time. I then upgraded to a F4I, and most currently, a R6. Look in your area where the MSF Motorcycle Training Course is located. In PA it's free, and if you pass the course, you will get your motorcycle license. (also a % off your insurance). There phone # to register is 1-800-845-9533.

Holler back anytime!
