55 shot for now...

Once the tranny stuff gets done, I'll run it at a 75shot down on the strip...

How's the traction on the 55 shot. I'm running a 75 and it roasts the tires anywhere in first gear.

Traction sucks...but much of the traction problem is eaten up by the clutch that slips on every shift.... :)

But, damn is it fun...

So how does that work, anyway? I'm not too up to speed on N20. Does it just kick on at WOT, or do you have to flip a switch... Also, what's the life on one of those bottles (i.e., how many runs)?

what is the benefit of having two bottles opposed to one big bottle?
i mean.. can't you jsut run a bigger shot out of a big bottle instead of 2 little shots ouf of 2 bottles?

the bottles just hold the juice..they have nothing to do with the shot.

The HP shot of nitrous is controlled by what size nozzle you have at the intake.

Most common setup requires 3 things for nitrous to work.

1: Bottle valve must be opened. Therefore you either need to get out of the car pop the trunk and open the bottle, or purchase a remote bottle opener which allows you to open or close the bottle ffrom inside the car.

2: System must be activated. In my pics you'll notice there is switch with a red cap on it. Lift the cap and flip the switch. This turns on the system and allows you to use the nitrous now. It'll control both the fuel and Nitrous solenoids.

3: Now comes the trick...everyone watched FnF and saw a button that sprayed the N2O...this is not an optimal method. So most kits use a Throttle activated sensor. And at WOT (appx 4.2v, 4.5-5.0v is WOT) it opens the solenoids and you go.

On a 55-75 shot, you are looking at about 3-4min of continuous use. If you rin a 15src 1/4 mile it's a bunch of runs. Adding a bottle heater (electric heater), you can heep the bottle tem up by keeping the gas warm, and when you warm a gas it expands. And you want to run around 950psi of pressure.

About having 2 bottles GMK basically covered it. I just can carry 20lbs of N2O now and won't have to go fill up as often. And it helps keep pressure up. On top of that, it looks cool.

About shot sizes, it has to do with the system itslef, and using proper jets. Yes running a 150shot compared to a 55shot you will use more N2O, so often guys who have huge shots of N2O will have 2-3 15lb bottles, and use much if not all in just a few runs.

Hope that helps.

There is a guy that was talking **** about a mustang in my area with a 400 shot of nos is this even possible with a completely rebuilt engine of course.

It's possible...if it's true direct port nitrous kit, and was running at a 50shot per cylinder, that would be 400hp on a V8...it's more than possible, as I have seen a 1000 shot on a mustang before...it's a 8-9sec car...I never saw it run, but it wins awards at the local track here. Not one thing in there is stock.

Wow...thanks for the great reply. I want to do a bottle setup eventually, but given that my car only has 13,000 miles on it and I've yet to have any warranty work done, that only means it's on the way. I can't imagine the "twins" in my trunk would help my case getting engine work warrantied!!!

But I've set my budget for rims and GC/Koni...

How much? Who installed it?

If I end up keeping my atx, after tranny work, I'd need something to get me caught up to the MTXs... or to smoke 'em... whatever. Would be nice to have a general price. Since one of my colleges of choice just offered a $28,000 scholarship, working on car seems alot more doable.

You can do the install yourelf, or bring it to any perf shop.

I did it at a local speed shop who does imports, cause I needed a heated garage and a hand tohelp with a few things. Install is relatively easy. I paid a rental fee for thei time and the shop, but avg install charges in a basic kit will be for 4 hrs, so whatyever their hourly fee is. My place also filled my first bottle for free.

Cost of kits range, and then of course the extras. If you are interested in a Zex kit, just email me and I can help you out getting the kit, plugs, purge kit, heater, etc etc...whatever ya need.

If you have a return 99 cougar, then any kit but the venom kits are available to you.

I am a return car...

For returnless cars you can run a singly wet shot...works like a single dry shot, but combines fuel and N2O in the jets then sprayed into the intake manifold.

In that case you can use the Zex, NOS, NX, etc wet kits, or the venom dry kit.
