comming home from college today... i was behind a 2dr integra, commando wing, eichibahn (sp?) steering wheel, cd hanging from the rearview mirror etc...

anyway, there were 3 lanes... a soccer mom in lane 1, the integra guy in lane 2, and me in lane 3 (lane 3 was ending up ahead, so i HAD to either pass him, or go behind)... and me, not being one to pass up what could be a good quick race (since we both had manual trans. :) ...i stayed in lane 3.

light goes green and no joke... at the exact same time we both went for it, it was perfect, ... but i think i got more traction cause at the top of 1st gear, he was at my rear wheel, and once i got into 2nd, it was all over... for him :) i didnt even get a ricer flyby either! i was impressed.

i'll say this though... i dont like 1st gear in the cougar, its feels too "weak" but once you get into 2nd then things really start to get going

so yeah... if you have an mtx cougar, see a acura interga, and wonder if you could beat it... go for it, you'll win :)

was it a gsr?

good kill!

all depends on the model of integra though. gsr...type r...then you are not guaranteed a win.

sounds like this guy was all show and no go. no ricer flyby is a bonus, however. :)

quick stats (for 2000 model year):

Integra GS: 140hp ~7.9s
Integra GS-R: 170 hp ~7.1s
Integra TypeR: 195hp ~6.7s

all 3 weighing in at ~2600lbs.

IMHO: GS-R should be a driver's race...the TypeR should be a loss stock-for-stock (unless one driver sucks, etc).

A while ago I raced a GSR...seemed to be modded...exhaust, intake prob...that seemed like it coudln't really tell...we were neck and neck until 3rd where I had to double shift because of my syncro problem...I guess he's a crappy driver because there were 3 people and my 175 lb sub setup in the trunk...he just had his skinny asian self.

that's a good assumption if you do the math. GS-R + "skinny asian self" = ~2750lbs. cougar + 3 people + 175lbs sub = ~3600+....that's 850lbs against the cougar...give or take...with cars that are within a few .1 sec 1/4 mile times of each other when stock.

LOL I love Integras.. last one I got to race was even with me til 2nd and then I pulled away smoothly.. (only running an intake at the time) No ricer flyby.. instead he rolled up at the next light and said good race and asked what I had in my car LOL.. First time someone hasnt given me the one finger salute or some other lame crybaby gesture for losing..

yeah, looked like just the generic (regular) 2door integra, i think him being so light actually screwed him up - the tiny engine didn't weigh enough to give the front wheels traction

i like racing those things though...cause its usually close - deffinatly a drivers race anyway - cause i was 100% stock :)

those and if i ever got around to racing one of those little mazda mx-3's - the tiny ones - i dunno if thats the name of them... i hate cars that just have numbers / initals as badging

edit: t'was a mx3 which i meant...

you mean the MX-3 right? the MX-6/Probe are the predicesor (sp) to your car. same engines. both based off the contour.

the MX-3 came with a 110HP 1.5L 4cyl, or a 1.8L V6(the worlds smallest V6)with 140HP...whats scary is that in Japan you could get that tiny MX-3 with the Duratec SVT engine...thats right 200HP and 2400lbs. fast little car. a few people have done the swap in North America.

sorry, but mx-6's don't have a duratec, although they do have a 2.5, it is a mazda engine, kl-03 I believe is the engine code

last i check the mx3 only had 120hp v6

Kodiak

the mx3 v6 also came in ATX only as far as i know. as for the cougar and mx6/probe having the same motor, no they dont. phantom is correct on the stock engine code for the mx6/probe is KL-03, it makes 164hp with about 155lb/ft of torque. though they are both 2.5l motors, the cougar out powers the 03 by about 15hp and a little torque, but th mx6 weighs a bit less than the cougar.

Kodiak: I have a friend with a MTX V6 mx-3
ND4SPD: The mx-3 is called a Precidia (granted it doesn't have that in the badging, but it does say so on the back)

Nice kill mang!!!
I've always wanted to race a stock or modded Integra
any model. My Cougar is pretty modded but I'm sure modded
Type-R would beat me as long as the driver knew his car like
I know mine.

I pulled a full carlength (enough to merge) on a late-model, pre-RSX integra in the a**hole lane. DRIVING MY SATURN. And yes, he was DEFINITELY going for it.

I think my last Saturn was a Wednesday car. It was a 1.9L MTX, and pretty much all stock. They're just SO LIGHT! And torquey, too. That's why I could always a**hole people in it; the 60-foot times for that thing were off the scale...

Dekz - YA! that was it... the precidia, couldn't remember the name, thanks! :)

Gyger - go find yourself one! its an actually decent car to race against... cause if you mess up, he wins... and if you dont, then you win :)

Bennett - yeah, my father had one of the 'upper class' saturns... still the 4cyl, 4door, mtx etc... but it was nuts, when he'd floor it, i actually FELT it... heh, scariest saturn i'd ever seen

Speaking of cars - that new Tiberon, any good to race against?

the 03 tib v6 has a slight advantage with its gearing, but it would be a driver's race. they are mid-15 sec cars. i think they respond better to mods. their stock tires are much better than a cougar's.

equal weight to a cougar, equal HP, 181 torque, 6spd.

im gonna have to look into that now. since they are the same car MX6/Probe and they both use a 2.5L V6 i assumed it would be the duratec. hmmmmm makes me look dumb...ah well ,thanx for bringing that to my attention.

They are easily swapped out to a KL-ZE (200 hp) or a KL-03 (165 HP).

Nice kill man...and I couldn't agree more with you. Second gear in the Cougar = absolutly amazing.

First gear really doesn't get my blood going, but if I'm rolling 10-15 mph and then slam it into 2nd and go WOT, omg it's like hang on. 2nd gear ownz
