i just bought some nice satin weave CF and i want to cover a few interior pieces. i am going to cover the a-pillars as my first project and i wanted to know if i have to make a mold or just lay resin on the panel then CF on top? Also which is better a twill weave or a satin weave cause i like the look of satin CF better then the twill. Any info would be a great help.

I know you guys are going to tell me to just go to craig and have him do it since he's the god of CF but I just want to be able to say "I did that". No offense to craig tho since he does to superb work.

Working with CF is similar to working with fiberglass... It's a composite material using both cloth and resin combo. Also, if your using the cheap resin (forget what it's made out of) - it will break down under UV light.

If your doing the A pilars - then the A pilar itself is the mold. You could resin-cloth-resin it , but I'm not sure how nice it would come out. I'd try on something you wouldn't mind messing up first to see if you can obtain the results you're looking for.

The way to make it look sweet is to use prepreg and an autoclave - I have a sample of it in my apartment. Very nice indeed!

Ive Pm'ed Craig and emailed him about doing some carbon fiber for me. I have not heard anything back. Keep us updated on your progress for this project. I may have to do the same thing, and do it myself.
