just wondering who would be interested in custom headers? I just made contact with a company down here in md that has been doing custom design work on 3rd gen eclipse for the past few years. they are a little bored with the projects they are doing and are interested in doing a few things on cougars. I would just like to know how many of you would be interested befor I go and drop off my coug so they can play. The 4's would be first and then the 6's. unless someopne would like to let me use a 6 as a proto. Let me know what the thoughts are folks. Just trying to better our overall drive enjoyment here and do my part to forward cougaring.
B.T.W. Ivo I still need those drawings you spoke of.

Given the popularity of the MSDS headers and already how many people have them, there's only 2 ways your guys could make some money out of this:
1) Offer them in Stainless Steel for under $800 (good luck)
2) Offer them mild steel ceramic coated (same as MSDS) for under $600
This is for the Duratec only. I have no idea what's out on the market for the Zetec Cougar.
The pic is below, check it out. It could be made to work with the OMP and Random Tech bars. Note that in the middle hole where the strut would go through there would be a polyurethane (or whatever material shown to be good for this application via TESTING) type bushing much like the ones available for sway bars. This mainly to still give some play in the movement of the strut within the tower, yet the whole thing should be aimed at reducing strut movement by ~80%. 100% hold of the strut might be dangerous as to things may snap/break under heavy stress, whether cornering or hiting a curb for example at high speeds. This would be mounted on top of the OMP top strut tower mount (the round one).
EDIT: I forgot to make the cutouts on the outer ring for the 3 self-threading screws that come with the OMP but you get the point.

depending on price vs. hp gain i might be interested but me and my buddy have plans also on making custom headers...long throw headers..not these little boy headers....heheh...the MANLY headers.
the way things are with his business right now and my work cituation i dont see it happening till at least the end of this year.

so what you guys are saying is its all about the green stuff ....
alright I will see what kind of pricing I can get from them in regards to cheap.
was going to push for free flow and hp.
what is the hp curve that the msds header is giving anybody?
I will try to have them match or beat the hp gain and match or beat the price if I can.
everybody got there fingers crossed???
Ivo ... the proto piece's will go into production start of this next week. Is your car going to be available for the testing?

You're gonna come all the way up here for me to test it? Come on up.
Hey, one thing, how did you-or whoever's making it get the measurements? Remember you need to measure from the top of the OMP tower brace, not from the tower itself.

thats the idea Ivo. I need the measurements off your car so we can make the proto.
you can pull the measurements for me and send me a rough sketch showing the demensions and the hole sizes and locations, I can get this thing into production. I will be bringing it up and your car will be the test car if you will allow it.
Sassy, you guys are the only ones I am offering this stuff to. Gotta take care of the crew- Mass Conn.
Demon- you scare me by calling me cute especially after seeing you with the bears!!

Bad news bro, I dont think it would work for two reasons:
1) The self-threading screws don't look like they would hold the added stress, especially since they would come up about ~1/4" for the extra thickness of metal being pilled up. Keep in mind there are only 3 screws per side and the strut tower itself isn't all that thick either.
2) This would mean people would need to take the suspension out and do a real bolt-on. I doubt many if any will.
The concept works but it really need sto be built into the bar itself, know what I mean?

Dren, if you got people houndin you to make parts for the Cougar, why dont you list what they're capable of doing and we can zoom in some ideas around their field? (i.e. true cold air intakes, new exhausts, headers, cosmetic, etc.)

ok well as of right now I have a metal fab racing co that wants to do some investigation on strut bars trac control so on for the coug. they can also do alum box fabs so if you have an idea let me know. This company .. The Hot Rod Ranch has been doing the older mustangs and so on for years and just put out a line of high perf motorcycle kits for the Suz R series bikes. Now they like to play with american cars and they were talkin bout playin with the foc. when I met them ... I told them how interested the Coug crowd would be in the posssible chance to get true custom man parts for the cougs. so there for I made my own world of hurt.
I have a company that would like to try to produce a custom 1,4 - 2,3 header for the Z and a header for the Dura but the interest level so far is below even attempting a proto for pricing purp's
I have a cosmetic co looking at doing a kit for the coug but I have not pushed this one to far as customcougar has his millenium kit he has pusehed.
I have a comp level eng. co that enjoys making the Z and Dura into racing rokets. Now as the price seems to be the big thing here I didnt think posting that I have a company that can make a engine run in the 10 sec class would do any good for me or you. But if you have a few thou laying around let me know
I have been trying to push ever old contact I had in the area to get into the Coug z and dura perf lines and all my old friends that built my camaros and mustangs are more than willing to tool up for the coug lines if the response bases are up to par. I know it may be unfair but I am using the mass/conn crew as a test base as I would like this crew to have the first shot at the designs and parts as they would become available. even in proto class. I have looked at you all not as just friends but as my second family and I just want to take care of my family..

We need cams, not for stock neither, at least one for I/H/E and another for boosted applications.
Internals wouldn't hurt neither but the market here is unlikely due to cost. Not too many pistons/rods, valves/springs out there for us.
