I don't drive my 2000 cougar in the winter..and this winter has been especially cold... well i have it at a firends house so i went over to start it up cause i needed to move it to my new houses grarge well of course it was dead when i tried to start it...so we hooked up the jumper cables and it won't turn over... it just makes a rapid clicking noise.....so we hooked up a charger to the battery and left it a while.. when its not hooked up to the Charger the battery holds a charge cause the headlights come on..BRIGHT and the stereo works and the neons and all that stuff...but when i go to try to start it it just clicks.... (I WAS TRYING THIS IN ABOUT 8 Degree's F) so it was pretty cold...all i get it the rapid clicking when i try to start it... any ideas would be great!!
Thanks for any help

Frozen fuel lines? See if you can warm up the area around the car. I had something similar happen to me once because I had left it outside on a cold night for the first time in a while. She wouldn't start for about a day & 1/2, but I put some dry gas from STP in and let it sit and she started up with some coaxing. You may want to try flooring the gas while starting it up.
My guesses would be:
Fuel line
Battery
Starter
Alternator
User Error :)
Your not running all that electrical stuff while trying to start it right?

Well the reason i don't think it is the fuel Lines.. is that the car dosn't turn over......just clicks... if it was turning over and not starting i would guess that it wasn't getting any gas but it just does a rapid clicking noise:-)

Understandable, but mine was doing the same day one cold morning & that fixed it. It's your cheapest route for now. STP bottle is like $5.
