Well I used to have a cougar, traded it in for a sport trac, needless to say it was stolen...
I'm curious though, cause I know they didn't tow the truck, how did they start it? It's armed with the pats system just like the cougar, how in the hell did they drive it off? Any help on this would be appreciated!!
Thanks
Rob

no matter what system you have protecting your car a professional car thief knows how to get past it.
the pats system will keep novice thieves from getting it but like I said a professional thief wont be stoped by it.

An angry Cougar owner gone postal decided to tell you how he felt about your trade. :)
I'm assuming your insurance covers all this, otherwise I'd feel bad.

PATS is not totally theft proof. There are 6 million codes so with a fast computer, you can probably scanned it in a matter of minutes. Plus you can always bypass the ignition system and fool the PATS module in the engine management system. Someone who worked at a Ford dealership described how you can do it here a long time ago (like way back in 1999...). And I've read something similar over at Escape-Central and Foculjet. Basically, PATS will prevent any novice from hot wiring your car or using a dummy key to start the car but there is a way around everything.

That sucks...I hope you had theft insurance on it.
There is no 100% method to protect your car, you can have an alarm, PATS, with a secondary key ignition cut lock, battery disconnect, a posse of 5 300lb guys packing heat, and snipers on the surrounding building tops...and still there is a way.
You basically need to pull the engine or get a Jetson car that folds up into a briefcase that your bring into work with you. Hope ya get your money back...
