on the 00 cougs there is a strip of rubber molding down each side of the car. i'm am seriously in the process of getting them removed, but i was wondering if it is just glued like the rear emblem, or is it a combination of glue and taps into the body?? any help would be appreciated. also, any suggestions on how to go about this would be appreciated as well.

They are just glued on there. I used a WD-40 type lubricant and pulled them off. The molding themselves are made of rubber and come off easily.
Cleaning up the goo is the hardest part.

BE CAREFUL! Considering you have a 2000, the paint may have faded a bit, especially if it hasn't been regularly washed and waxed... keep this in mind if you're going to go through with this process.

I have a 99 and was considering this. When I removed the emblems on the rear of my car, I noticed a bit of fading, but after a few wash and waxes, i didn't notice it anymore. I was wondering if that would help even out the color?

It was probably a build-up of wax around those emblems that evenly distributed/washed away once the emblems were removed.

it's been washed and wax regularly....so there shouldn't be any problems

I highly recommend using fishing line.... basically you just get it behind the molding, and work it back and forth kinda like a knife to peel it off.... when done, using your thumb with some pressure will get all the goo off...
