I have scanned through the forums checking already but haven't seen this really come up yet.
I'm trying to find out where / what brand of headlight bulb I can get that has that bright white projection with the bluish / purple tint to it. I love cars with those headlights.

The real ones you see on luxury cars like Lexus and BMWs are called HID(High Intensity Discharge) lights. A conversion to those headlights can be several hundred dollars. However, there are other normal headlights called Xenon light bulbs you can find at a lot of auto parts stores. They claim to be brighter than regualr halogen lights, and they usually come in a bluish tint.
You can also go on Ebay and search for Cougar and Xenon. They usually have a set of high and low beams for $20.00.. however they dont last long.

eBay lights tend to be 100W, whereas our lights are normally 55W. While most people that use those cheap lights don't have a problem with wiring getting fried, I've seen two vehicles (one Cougar, one Bonneville) that had the harnesses damaged due to the high power flow.
If you want that colored light, then either get the HID conversion kit, which will cost ya, or consider moving to PIAAs -- great bulbs that use our standard power delivery, and don't damage our power harnesses!

I have a set of Sylvania Silverstars and are really happy with them. They cost around $25 a bulb but are the same wattage as the originals so you won't have harness melting. They are the closest thing I've seen to HID w/o doing a conversion.

Hope you like them as much as I do. I have a post in Audio/Electrical about the fog lights. Do you still have your originals? If you do you'll be looking to replace the bulbs in the fog lights too. Otherwise your fog lights look stupid w/ your new, very white low beams.

I spent $55 shipped from ebay and got Eurolite Fusion H3's, hi's and lows in stock wattages. I really like the color, theyre not too blue, its a good white light with a blue twinge... Not like the "Showoff" brand ones that are BLUE blue... you cant see a damn thing with those.
edit: I also had the sylvania's... Still do, opened sitting in a little box downstairs. I wasnt pleased with them for $40 a pair. They were *slightly* whiter than stock.
