View Full Version : Paint/Body Shops?
Hello. :)
I was wondering if any of you know a good paint/body shop that could paint my Roush Body Kit and Spoiler?
I want good work, but, I don't want to pay an arm and a leg. ;)
So, do you guys know anyone?
Thanks in advance.

I was under the impression that housecat had a place
:wiggle:
I believe that he could get the paint deal at the dealership he USED to work at. Unfortunately, I don't believe that deal is available anymore. :(
But you could be right. Thanks for the idea. ;)
Lance, you out there?!? Is the deal still available?!? :)

Chris W. had his SVT bumpers and some other stuff done at a place in Oakville I believe and the workmanship was really good. I'd suggest the place I had my Cougar's spoiler painted but their quality has been slipping as of late.
Thanks Dom. :)
Hopefully Chris will chime in sometime soon. ;)

That shop would be Paint-A-Car Collision on Speers Road, just west of JPG near 4th line. I don't have the number on me but it's in the book. It's owned by 2 brothers, Charlie and Steve. I generally speak to Charlie. He gives better pricing than Steve. Now, if you would like to see an example of their work, have a look at the paing on my SVT front bumper. It's like or is better than factory new. They also painted the current grille on the SVT too. :)

i can attest to the quality of housecats place, they do good work, alot of places wont like the material and will charge you an arm and a leg for prepping, if they dont do it right it will get pits, so if you shop around you will get alot of high ball prices, just be prepared to be knocked on your a$$ with quotes like $1500

lance used to work at fraser ford in oshawa, but moved down the street to another dealership (marigold or something?)....i had my kit, two hoods scoops, and a set of taillight covers painted at fraser, and my wing painted at the new place. both places did an EXCELLENT job, and the price is totally fair i think. pm lance, he's a good guy, i'm sure he'll be able to help you out.
a word of warning though, while the paint job was great, i found with fiberglass parts, the guys at the dealership didn't do a great job of prepping the fiberglass. basically, not all the imperfections were filled in to my standards...then again, i stare at the thing everyday...they really are not that noticeable, it's just that i should have done it myself cuz i know i would have taken more time and done it to my satisfaction. your roush kit is urethane though so you have nothing to worry about.
Well, hopefully Lance checks this thread out some time soon. ;)
Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate it. :)

Now that interests me!
I know the Roush pieces are Urethan....But does anyone remember what the Visteon/Inform peices are made from? (Its a front valance)
The visteon/inform design pieces are also made of Urethane. It is, however, just a better quality and more rigid type. Urethane will still need some prep work, but not nearly as much as fiberglass.

there's a place here in London that does AMAZING WORK but they are costly.....I have a guy who will paint my car for $1800 and shave the door handles for me if I want...(friend of a friend)....I'm going to get an estimate on the kit and fenders in a couple weeks and if he paints my stuf I'll let you know about the quality.

I was talking to my bodyshop manager this morning, and I can get the Roush kits done up for $350 taxes in. The work is excellent, and they can get it in and out quickly.
I didn't actually ask him, but I would imagine this offer is good to anyone looking to get a kit painted that is around the same size as a Roush. (Wings west, etc.)

Sweet!! I'll be over there in a month or so!!!
If you can can you find out how much approx they would charge to repaint my cougar black. I'd like to repaint it next year and I'd rather get it done at a dealership....
And when I paint my kit I want to get them to paint my hood too. How much is that?
Thanks so much!!! ;)

Well, if the hood needs to be painted because it's stone chipped, the entire hood would have to be stripped down to bare metal and prepped from there. If it's not stone chipped, there is a lot less prep time involved. If you don't strip a hood that's chipped, you will have little crater holes where the chips used to be. If it needs to be totally redone, you would be looking at around $400.
Just let me know when you would be interested in getting the work done and I can set you up with an appointment.
As for painting the whole car, why would you be wanting to do this?

SHOOT! Yeah my hood is nasty, so I guess Id need it stripped..... I want to do it say.... April 1st.
I think I need to repaint my whole car because the paint is aweful. Wax doesnt come off, the paint is rough and dull, and there is lots of swirl marks.... Unless someone think a $200 Professional buff job would make a big difference......... Cause thats what I was quoted at a buffing place....

Can't ford do something about the paint? not likely, i know, but hey, there is a chance not all ford dealers are http://www.mdneco.com/smile/greddy.gif (I LOVE THIS ICON!)
also, why pay $400 to repaint a stock hood? i would put in a little extra cash and get a carbon fibre hood that you don't have to paint ;) (it would look sick since your car is black)

I think the prev owner washed the car with dish soap.....so I doubt for would do anything :( It might be part of the joys of having a black car too :(
Well I dont have any other CF on my car so I dont know about that specifiacally.....I could go for a predator hood though LOL

Black is very hard to keep clean and from showing swirl marks especially when you drive it all year round. When I got my car it had a lot of acid rain spots on it and swirls. I took it and had it professionally buffed for around $80.00 and it got the worst of it out. The rest would not come out. Since then I have tried almost all the products on the market and so far the best I seem to have come across is Zaino. Not perfect but still came out the best. Remember too I have 211,000 km on my car now and most people are surprized that it still looks as good as it does. Trust me it is far from perfect and I will eventually get it repainted as well most likely so I can understand your dilema. Have you ever tried using a clay bar on your car. It does get rid of the crud that you really can't see in your paint plus will smooth out the surface. The first time I used it I was amazed. Waxing after that was so much easier. Clay bars are not a lot of work either and easy to use. Just some thoughts.
BTW Mike, Oaktown in Mississauga repaint the front of my car two years ago and still look pretty good to me.

Housecat~ can you find out what he'd charge for
1) Z3 fenders
2) OEM bumber (one spot needs filling, plus liscense plate holes need to be filled)
3) Roush kit
4) No limit grill
I'm shopping around and want to compare....

That is too bad. I made quite a difference on mine. The clay bar even turned blue from all the oxidization and crap. Then the paint surface was very smooth.

Sounds like my old car before I had it re-painted. Soap stuck to it....
Anyone know the name of the shop Housecat works for and the phone number?
Thanks,
Lance works at a Ford Dealership, but i'm not sure which one. If you want more information, PM him, i'm sure he'll get back to you in a couple of days. :)

Dan:
1) If you just want the fenders painted, $150 each. When I spoke to my BS manager, he highly reccomended that the fenders be blended into the doors, that way the colours would be a match. There's always a chance that the new paint and old won't match exactly. He reccomended to me to paint all the inside of the fenders, install them, then paint the outside and blend the paint to bumper and doors. If all this is done, you could be looking in the $500 range per side. There's quite a bit more work involved in the second option.
2) To fill the holes and paint the bumper you would be looking at about $275. This price might be a little better if you could get the bumper brought in off the car.
3) The Roush kit would run you $350 taxes in.
4) Now, he quoted me $50 on the grille insert, but I'm very, very sure when he sees the size of it, he will do it for much cheaper than that. He's trying to picture these things in his head and give me an estimate.
I think this would be easier if anyone was interested in getting stuff done, seriously interested to give me a call on my cell phone, pm me, and I will give you the number.

$500 per side.....DAMN.
I've had my fender and bumper riped off in an accident and they matched.....but that's not baby blue either.
I need your number if I'm oignt to call ya.....so I'll drop you a pm sometime soon....
thanks
