I've got a 99 Cougar that I've had up for sale off and on for quite some time. Anyone know anybody that might be interested? Here are the details:

V6
5-speed
61k
EXCELLENT CONDITION
Laser Red
Tan Leather
Moonroof
6 disc w/premium sound
ABS
Traction Control
Overhead console
16" Wheels

Just looking to get something a bit bigger.

Thanks!

just wondering... how much are you asking? might come across someone looking to buy one...but ya gotta keep in mind that cougars are hard sells... they're great cars but i see used ones with less than 40-50k miles loaded for under $9000... almost seems better to just keep it sometimes than even bother to try selling it. (like with mine... book value is probably around $9000 yet i still owe over $10000 on my loan... :( i hate depreciation...

The thing that sucks even more about the depreciation thing is the depreciation on america cars... Fricken jap cars hold there values incredibly well..... WTF domestics need to make a name for themeselves again...

I dunno, I see a lot of Neons & old Chrystlers that should be scrapped.

gotta look at it this way to though. its a limited production model so over the years once ya start seeing more and more in scrapyards etc. the value will go up.

I hear ya guys...depreciation blows! I tried selling this car a few months ago and only had some mild interest but I was asking probably too much for it. Still, I was right around blue book. I noticed that the value of the car seemed to have dropped fairly dramatically twice...once when it was announced that 02 was the last model year and again at the New Year. I guess a 99 seems much older now that it is 2003.

I'm asking $7750 and am a little negotiable. I think that is an excellent price for this car. I've kept up on maintenance and did my own oil changes for past 1.5 years on it. The tires are about a year old and the interior is in great condition. Some minor wear on the driver seat from getting in and out, but that happens to leather. The entire car is stock because I never had the cash to put into mods, although there were several that I wanted. I did change the side markers and the rear badging though.

Here's a pic.

Talk about depreciation I just checked Kelley Blue Book for my 2002 XR that Ive only have for 7months and the sticker was 23K (which I was able to talk down!). $13.6K thats 10K in depreciation in about ahalf a year from the sticker.

Not to be the bearer of bad news. But the 35th Anniv. Cougs were $5,000 extra for special badging. It's basically a $18k Sports Package w/ stickers.

When I got my XR I looked at the v6 sport wleather and the XR, the XR was only about $500 dollars more.

That's a major hit nbiron! You can't win with cars because it's true when they say it loses value as soon as you drive it off the lot.

Some dealers set their own prices. I remember when I was looking for a new Coug & my old dealership had a new XR for $21k, then next to it they had a 01 ZN for $23k. Now, you'd think they'd lower the price on the ZN to move it quicker, but it was like that for months.

I was able to get in at the right time and had a good sales man I was able to get $3k off the list and extra 1k more for my trade-in. Its all in the timing, the best time to buy a car is the end of a month or end of a sales quarter.

Bottom line, I love my car and love the looks I get as I drive down the steet!

I miss those looks. Got them all the time for about the first year that I had the car. Now I hardly get any.
