How can I tell if the car I just picked up has a remote start. I am guessing it doesn't but the people I bought it from said it did. Not a big deal either way but I'd like to know. It has a viper alarm system and when I hit Aux it didn't do anything and then later I noticed it popped the trunk. If it was remote start I would hit the aux button correct?

One way to tell, you might want to look under the hood for the extra pin. also look for a wire next to a coil. under the steering column look around the brake pedal there should be an extra wire if one installed correctly.

On the remote instead of press and hold try to press and release it, see if that will do it.
And you can always call the previous owner and just ask him as well.

I have to hold the unlock and lock buttons in at the same time, then the parking lights flash once before starting. I have a Sidewinder, but I'm sure it is the same. Maybe he meant it has it as an option, but not installed?

You have to push the lock/unlock buttons at the same time to start a DEI alarm with the remote. The auxilary is usually just for trunk pop, and you have to hold that down for about 2 seconds before it'll pop the trunk.

I have a python remote start and press unlock and lock at the same time, you should also see the antenna like above the rear view, most remote starters I have seen on cars have them in the same spot right on the windshield
