Hey guys/gals, I yanked the rear panels out and was looking at the room between the inside frame and the outside of the car. There is actually alot of room. More than 5 inches deep. My question is, is it possible to put a 8" subwoofer (after cutting a hole beside the 5x7 speakers already there) without it effecting sound from the other speaker and would it sound good our not? Did not want to cut into the car and find out it sounds like crap. I do not have the complete cubic sq of the area, but I say about 5-6" deep and 1.5-2' long and 1.5' high area.

You would hae to sound proof it good and ake a fiberglass box behind it for it to sound any good.. I really ouldne tell ya.. If I had an extra amp/speaker and time I would try it... I say go for it and let us know

kjracer is right, especially if you care to make a really clean install.

yea you're probably better off just putting smaller speakers in there. I don't like our 4 speaker sound system---we need more. You'd definitely need a box with enough space to get any clean sound out of a subwoofer.

I was going to dynomat the inside of the compartment before I start. Though, I have never had a subwoofer so I do not really know what sized speaker to use. Is there an equation? I might just get 6 and 3/4 " component speakers * for the subwoofer and put the tweeter just about where the raer panels curves and where the reae seat latch is so the passengers will have music coming directly beised there ear. The other option is to install 8" subwoofers and that is all. Though could use some kind of area I will need for both speakers. Does space have to be a certain deminsion or all that it matters is the whole cubic footage?

I see window seal failure in your immediate future :) I think putting a sub in the back would probably do more harm than good. Stick with a box.
