Has anyone replaced their cat with a straight through pipe yet? If so, did you buy it off the shelf or did you have it custom made? What, if any, were the results? How much louder etc? Thanks....

I am goint to do this next month when I fit my dual exhaust system.

Pipex do stainless straight bits 2½" outside but they are in 2 metre sections.

I am going to weld my full system myself

I am assured by others on this forum that the Cougar will pass emmisions with just the
precats in the manifolds is it warmed up prior to the MOT.

Thanks for the reply Bazza.

I got a quad 3 inch twin exit system fabricated at Ascar exhausts in Sheffield on thursday, photos will follow.

Are you going to make your system out of 304 grade stainless? Are you going to clamp all the sections together?

Pictures of my new exhaust, full 304 grade stainless steel with 2 silencers, very similar to what Stoffler do...

Very nice.

I was thinking 3" to 3½" slash cut singles for my project

Got the exhaust fabricated at Ascar Exhausts in Sheffield last week. It's a full grade 304 stainless steel exhaust which has got 2 silencers and as you can see quad 3 inch tips.

Be careful if you're looking to get an exhaust at one of the Powerflow dealers, I've heard they don't always use grade 304 stainless on the full exhaust. Some grades of stainless do rust, grade 304 doesn't.

The exhaust is guaranteed for life and the cost was £475. Powerflow in Newcastle wanted £425 with only 1 silencer.

As for noise it's only a little louder than the stock exhaust, I didn't want excessive noise whilst driving on the motorway etc.

It's totally up to you though, tell Ascar what you want and they will oblige.
