Hey, glad to see that there is a Colorado-reigon NECO. I remember seeing someone a while ago with NECO stickers on his Cougar driving down I-25, but he was selling his cat, so I thoguht the club was dying out. Fantastic that you guys are still around! :)

Would anyone be opposed if I dropped by events once in a while? I'm kind of new to seriously working on cars, but I can easily borrow jacks/power tools, have a few tools of my own and two hands recently healed from the last round of knuckle-banging.

And to finish, a question:

I was reading up on gutting pre-cats and was curious if anyone in the area had done it yet. I wasn't sure what kind of effect the altitude may have (in regards to the O2 sensors) or if anyone in Colo had problems with the emissions exeption. Or if you just plain thought it was a bad idea.

Thanks for the input. And looking forward to meeting some new folks.

As Jake said, we'd love to have you around at all the meets. Even if we're working on someone else's car, extra hands are always nice and you'll learn a lot.

Out of curiosity, what color was the Cougar you saw on I-25 with the NECO sticker? As far as I knew, there were only two Cougars in Colorado that had NECO stickers - Spencer's and mine. Spencer sold his cat a long while back after it got in an accident and he salivated over the Chevy Avalanche.

Looking at the pictures of your Cougar, I'm thinking it was you, highgeer, that I saw. However, I also remember seeing rather prominent vinyl "For Sale" lettering in the rear window. But it was definitely more than 6 months ago, and my memory is a little fuzzy. I think the driver had an orangish hat on, as well, but again...

Well, that would probably be Spencer, actually. He used vinyl letters for his For Sale sign (I still have my car and never tried to sell it). His car and mine were nearly identical. He had a black cat with dual exhaust. We etched the rear sail windows with the cougar-head logo together. His car had black tint (mine's the reflective silver), he had a NECO license plate frame and his plate read NECO-1.

Regardless, Spencer is a great guy and is actually one of the two people that founded NECO. I believe he still owns the web space and domain name for newcougar.org. Sorry for the extended history lesson!
