hi. i need a front brake rotor bad, so i was wondering if anybody around here had an OEM that they may have replaced with a KVR, OMP, or other aftermarket rotor. of course, i need it to be functional, so it can't be damaged or too thin to use.

I don't have my originals- They're on Chroma in PA... D'oh.... Sorry...

It turns out that I don't just need new rotors, but a new wheel hub! custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif I thought that my rotor was being scored because my calilper was incorrectly installed; however, it turns out that my rotor has serious end play! :( I'm guessing that the wheel bearing wore out due to a half-shaft that was seated incorrectly after my springs were installed. *sigh*

WOAH WOAH WOAH- I installed those!

That sounds suspect to me- VERY suspect- The half-shaft is one of those "all or nothing" pieces- Either it's seated or it's not. I've done at least 10-15 axle replacements/spring installs, and there has never been an issue with any of the vehicles I've performed work on. How many miles on the car? The wheel hub bearing is pressed in, and it's toothed to accept the spline of the axle- The axle conforms to the hub- Not the other way around! The CV joint should fail before the hub bearing- VERY strange.

DanG, i don't mean to point any fingers. just hard to fathom why my bearing/hub went bad. maybe i can place the blame on being rear-ended? i'll call you later to discuss...

EDIT: i talked to DanG, and he said there was no way that the half-shaft incident would have caused the bearing to fail.

also, i was thinking, why don't we have a discount on parts setup with a local dealership? there's about 10 dealerships in Fairfax County alone. somebody should want our business!

well, it seems all that was needed was to tighten up the hub nut.
that nut is supposed to be torqued to 150 Nm custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif, so how it got loose is anybody's guess.
at least all i need is a new rotor. i went ahead and bought the PowerSlot rotors mentioned in the GB.
