View Full Version : Which headunit can do the following.....
I need a headunit that will play CD/MP3/CD-RW/DVD.
I have an external monitor and don't want one built into the headunit.
If anybody knows a headunit that has this option, please let me know
thanks
i found an alpine (ALpine DVA-7996) that does all the above, but is says it has no internal amp.....what does that mean?

Means you cant hook speakers up to it directly, you need an external amp to power your door speakers.

but im sure if your wanting a haflway decent system your gonna want to run your interior speakers off a nice amp right?
no internal amp means the headunit devotes all its resources to makeing nice clean music...and it doesnt have to try and amp it too.

Any manufacturer today produce this options that will allow you play CD/MP3/CD-RW/DVD. The inly diffrence you will see among diffrent units is mostky options. That will depend on the price as well.

I would reccommend the Pioneer DEH-P740MP CD/MP3 Player.
OEL Display
Organic EL Display
MOSFET50, EEQ
SFEQ
XM Ready
Supertuner III
MP3 Playback
IP-Bus System Control
Card Remote
Rotary Volume Control
Flap Face
Detachable Face Security
Hi-Volt Preouts
Oh, by the way, did I mention I work for Pioneer??? I guess I have a biased opinion.

Click the link in my profile for pics of an Installed Sony MEX-5DI. It's a really nice piece, IMO. Especially if you can get it for $550!!! I payed $799 for mine!
The 5DI sounds awesome and has programmable 7 band EQ settings, multiple display options, and is MP3/cdr/w compatable, among its top features. 2 things tho. No removable face, and the CD tray is 'different' than what im used to. The cd's pop in and out like in a portable cd player... Seriously helps out the skipping though. My friend lives on a very weathered dirt road and it hasnt skipped once.

The DEH-740mp & the MEX5D1 arent really DVD players though. He's looking for one that plays DVD and MP3's but without a built in monitor
