NYS Tint Laws

Does anyone know the exact tint laws? Accourding to this web site here (http://www.pcisys.net/~bpc/auto_law/tint/) we can't have any tint what so ever. Last time I thought that you could have 35% tint on the rear windows; on side windows and front you can't have any. Is this right?

I think this would be a more "offical" site here (http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Consumer_Info/auto_statelaws.html). Yea, NY sucks for tint laws. Accoring to that, there's no law on the rear of your car, just the front and rear sides.

I'll probably be going with 35% all around - cops around here seem pretty cool, for the most part. If not I'll play dumb - I'm good at that. :stupid:

Yep just chiming in, The back there windows you can paint black as long as you have 2 side mirrors. You can't have anything one the front windows. I have 15% on the back three on my car. I would go with that or maybe 20% on the back three. Anything darker I think looks too akward being such a contrast to the fronts with nothing. But If the cops aren't too big of dicks in your area spend the extra 60$ and get the fronts done too. Were are you thinking of going to get it done? I would recomend Tint King they do a one peice back window.

TRUST ME IVE BEEN PULLED OVER AND TICKETED FOR TINT - SEVERAL TIMES

In NYS - yes correct - your back 3 windows can be as dark as you want them to be 5% even. Nothing on the front winshield longer than 4". and as for the front side 2 windows the tint percentage is 70%. NO DARKER THAN 70%.

I got pulled over - he had his little gauge tester and mine read 17%.

LoL. I just got pulled over yesterday driving home on 17 from Binghamton. He had his little tint tool as well and mine read 30%. He was trying to argue that my front windshield strip on the top is illegal as well, I only have the four LEGAL inches!!! But yes my front sides are tinted, but not to the extreme as my backs. I have 5% on my back and back sides, and 30% on my front sides, and 5% on my 4" strip. Thing that pissed me off was that I watched three people pass me doing at least 75-80 mph. I was only doing 62 at the time! I was heated, and tried to work my way out of it, but hey those NY State Troopers will get ya every time. Thing thats been the thirteenth time for me now, lol.

Damn...I feel bad for you guys. Cops here in MD don't normally pull you over unless you drive like a D*ck. We get 35% on all windows and a 5 inch strip. Me...I don't give a crap about tint laws. Been pulled over twice and put more illegal crap back on. Once I get it back I'm putting a fader tint back on it. I love that stuff. G'luck with your guys tint laws.
