Has anyone painted their engine cover? I was thinking about doing this, just want to know how complicated it is....

Get a tork wrench and and get the pounds for the bolts on the cover. Look for a post called "pounds" Remove all the bolsa in a criss cross pattern.. "right front to left bact...left front to right back". Then do center ones.. But dont lossen all the way do maybe one to tow turns on eatch one till they are all loose. or you can go. "right rear to top center to left rear"Take the valve cover off and lay a shop rag over the cams so no dust or whatnot falls in there. Get a good wire bruch and smooth our the steel and removerthe paint. If your paint has not bubled from the heat of the engint just get a thing grit like 15 or 20 grit sand paper and rempver paint.. Get a "ENGINE" paint that holds up to 1000 or 600 (I think that is what they hold) paint it and if you can find a clear coat do the same. Let cure and reinstall like you took off OHHH and make sure yo buy a new gasket!!!!! You sould be able to remove it in 15mins with taking a break. And paint time depends on you.

If you'd rather have a powder coated version I offer that as a service including cores so you don't have to worry about being without your car. PM or email me if you're interested. Just make sure you've got the metal valve cover and not the plastic kind.
Thanks,
Rick
