Per our PM's Dan. Can you use a photo editing program and show me where each tube is suppose to go for the BAT pipe. And how do I rewire the IAT so it reaches the correct plug?

Per the IACV ~ You'll see where I marked in photoshop where the over and under is. The top screw I can get to fine. But the bottom one is impossible unless I start taking stuff out of my way. (Gang - this is the thing that makes that loud noise when its cold out. I know a few experience this. Dan is going to be kind enough to show us how to replace it) :) :)

Thanks!!

Doug/All:

Hopefully a simple explanation for a more complex problem.

The tube pic is attached with comments.

The IAT can be cut off and wire extensions put in place to extend the length of its reach. I used brown and white 16 gauge wire, soldering them in place and using heat shrink tubing with my heat gun to seal the connections. I then wrapped the whole thing with electrical tape down the ful length of my extension. Almost looks like it belongs.

The IACV itself must be removed. A 10mm deep-welll 1/4" socket will do the job, but you may have to get a 10mm box wrench in there to start it. It can be done, but if all else fails, pop the two bolts off the EGR valve (the usually rusty metal thing with the diaphram on it) and remove the whole upper intake. Make sure all gaskets are good and clean before you put everything back together. I have reused my EGR gasket twice now, and my intake gaskets once with no leaks. Hopefully this will help.

Yea I just had my IACV replaced cause it was howling at me everyday and causing my car to stall. Along with that, I had my MAF sensor replaced. Then my dad, who works at a Ford dealer down in Florida put it on his diags computer, because I haven't been able to use regular gas since I bought mine new and low and behold, for 300k miles, my cougar hasn't had a knock sensor. also there was an updated program out relating to the pinging i was always getting since I bought my car.
I'm in the process of writing Mercury a nasty gram for causing me to have to use premium gas ever since my car was new. Anyways, just thought I'd share my experience and vent some frustration.

Catch you guys later.

A slice of hose would probably be a good bet here. I still have yet to see a good implementation of the IAT hookup in any aftermarket pipe, one of the main reasons that I simply switched to the SVT gooseneck tube. The hole should have some sort of pliable material in it that will accept and snuggly hold the IAT in place, far enough in to have the thermocouple in the airstream. You may have to settle for a small length of hose lashed to the IAT with a clamp and shoved into the tube. It's tricky- I'd actually have to see it to further advise.
