After two weeks of snow, a dial-up computer that won't allow me on NECO, boredom, and pimping either a ZX2 or a truck, I'm finally home. I can't believe how much I missed my car...my friend brought it to the airport for me and I was sooooo happy. Driving was bliss!!
But of course, things never go good for Kelly for too long...
We (car club & I) were meeting up with people around 1am, chilling, finding races and whatnot...well my friend's like, let's go to Waffle House. Didn't wanna go, but okay. Well WH has one HELL of a driveway, including a HUGE HUGE pothole/crevice/gully that was covered in water. I wasn't going too fast and took the incline at an angle like usual...I hear this sickening "POP"...and I'm like nooooooo the tire!! Well I popped off the wheel in the parking lot...oh no, it wasn't the tire...it was the RIM...the inner side of the rim is bent to hell, to be honest I don't even think theres a hole in the tire...put on the bling bling spare tire and I thought I was going to
Can't WAIT to see what a new wheel is going to cost me at the dealers.

Oooooohhhhhhh.... that sucks! Try Ebay.. they might have something... or the for sale section... if not... you might be out around $400 for a rim.. It's ok if you cry... i'm crying with you...
Julie
I wish i could help ya but my stock rims dont look like yours. Plus i might have to put them back on cuz i might be trading my atx in for an mtx cuz i finally got taught how to drive one. It wasnt hard at all.

Noooooo way...oh man that is terrible...and we've got no normal rim either. Danggggg...if the rim will costya $400+ from Ford, I would have to advise saving up for a set of 18"s (or actually 19"s since you've got GroundControls) if you could get the cash kinda quick...cuz the bling bling spare is so poo. Keep us informed...dang I'm so sorry to hear that Keli :(

OUCH!!!! that's gotta suck...i know i got chips in my from where i got run up on the curb by a old lady, and i bout cried. i need to make the switch to a MTX too cuz this ATX is bout to drive me nuts, cuz all i've ever driven was a MTX. i don't know why i even bothered w/ the AT anyways. i think it was bc it was the olny blu one in the whole area at the time, i wanted the first one. if i were in your situation, i'd definitely be lookin' for a set of 18's to throw on there instead of rollin' stock.

Kelly - I did the same thing to my stock rim, I was able to bang it out enough to get a good seal on with the tire. It held atleast long enough to get rims. You could take it to a wheel shop and see what they say. Otherwise I would buy rims cause the dealer is going to ask an arm and a leg for a rim.
Micah - Hell, it hurt me to watch your car bounce down the road.
Kenny - I got a remote control car that would wax yours, it goes 50 MPH. (That is when I can keep it straight, the tires just seem to want to spin)

Yeah, I got a gas powered stadium truck. Once I mod the engine I should be able to push the 60's or so. Either way, it is hard to hit that speed and then slow down in time unless you have a huge area to play in.

Well, here's the dilly, yo. I said screw the repair, rim wouldn't be as strong, and I wouldn't want to sell a defective rim to someone on NECO, so I bought a new one from the dealer. Came to $232.20 (10% discount bc dad works @ ford) which is less than I expected.
Babybluz - the point of me having a new rim is so that I can sell my rims as a set in a couple months. Stock aluminized 17" 35th Anniversary rims are a pretty hot commodity, and I can use the money from those to put towards the 19's I want.

that is very tru....point taken. you have the connection at the dealership so you were easily able to do that. speakin' of a MTX, how much would one cost if i traded in my ATX to knock off some of the pirce?

yes from the factory you pay 500 more for atx.... not sure about the transmission alone though.

It's actually more like $900 for an auto transmission. I would know because my parents forced me to get one, even though I'm paying for it (I was 17 at the time and needed a cosign.)
Patrick if you are trading in an ATX cougar, you are not going to get much of a trade in - you are better off selling it to a private party. Dealers are going to give you the lowest price possible. Go to www.kbb.com and get an estimate there, based on your car's year, miles, options, etc.

dv6coug - I did the same with the last car that I sold, but it isn't very often that it will happen. You just need the upper hand on the dealer! Godd job!!
Kelly - Good deal on the rim, not a bad price for a dealer!!

ya I got kind of lucky :)
i like car max now..... i got 13,500 for my old car... 2000 Golf 2.0 I4 MTX and paid 8995 for the Cougar, so i didnt have to pay taxes, the car i sold them was worth more then theres....
Cougar's worth alot more to me..... the Golf was a giant lemon...
BTW golf was missing the door speakers, had holes in the a pillars from mounting tweeters, scratched up hood, no tow hook(ha, my hit a curb in reverse :withstupid;) spots in the seats, holes in the dash... mounted a neon(never doing that again, it looked good, but not after it was removed).... the brakes were bad and rims scratched and I still somehow got kelley(kellie? however she spells it?) blut book price for it.... guess it was the low miles, 16k.
and Keli definitely did get a good price from a dealer.... i wanted to get the 01-02 gauge cluster and gauges, 340 dollars! custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif

no need to let go
A) get a hold of a mtx tranny... contact terry haines... he has his own section at www.fordcontour.org ?? something like that... correct me if i'm wrong... he will help you out... he knows alot of stuff!
B) read your sig
"Forget mice.....this kitty hunts rice" - Keliente and go chance some stupid rice rocketing civics with TYPE R written all over it
C) "All show and no go" seems to work very well ;)
good luck with the tranny

KELI...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT THE WHEEL.......
by the way....if the driveway belongs to WH......you could have gotten them to pay for it through small claims court....provided you car was stock height.....even with GC at least stock height.....and I'l be willing to bet you could have won a court case even with it slammed...provided the only damag was the wheel.....either WH or the county responsible for road maint.....I had to take my county road dept to court for a similar situation.....only it was a vintage 1955 ford thunderbird bumper....not a wheel....and the car is at stock height of course...
basically pothole+crater=incline steeper then building code
which in turn equals...cha ching......money for repairs plus court costs...

Hitman - I tried that before too, but they told me that unless someone reported the pothole to them previously then they couldn't do anything for me. I told them that if I new it was there that I wouldn't have hit it.
