Ok...so I fail my inspection.

First I knew I was going to fail for my front bumper being taped on. SO that's ok. I also failed for my taillight covers, and a loud exhaust system. Which is total :bs:

My car is not that loud to begin with. And they don't do decibal tests in NJ, so how would they know if I was over the limit.

But here's the kicker...NJ is big on the whole emmissions thing. They fail me for a loud exhaust, but my exhaust was sooooooooooooo clean. I mean soooooo clean you'd think it wasn't even on.

The Tests were for NOx, HC, CO%, CO2%, and O2%...

Look at these numbers...

NOx: Standard is 625, I tested at a 69
HC: Standard is 78, I tested at a 20
CO%: Standard is .44, I was at a .13
CO2%: No STandard, I was at a 15.1
O2%: No Standard, I was at a .1.

Basically my car is like a human being expelling low amounts of CO2 into the asmosphere helping trees breathe and grow and produce oxygen...and I fail for a loud exhaust, which by the way the tester complimented, as being a nice exhaust...

So...anyone coming to Katie's have a driver's side tail light I can borrow...so I can pass my inspection...??

And what do I do about my "loud" :bs::confused: exhaust...???

Oh well...My car is sooooooo clean, and fast...gotta love it.

If Frank can pass...so can I. :)

Could put factory muffler back on lol....maybe you could take it to an independent garage and have them pass you? Put in a resonator temporarly? have retest done outside building?
Hey, could have been worse. In Jan 2002, went for inspection under the new rules at a state station and they couldn't do anything due to an error in my registration...had my car down as a FORD Cougar, rather than Mercury Cougar:banghead: Turns out the Title (issued out of Trenton) had FORD on it too:disgust: I had never noticed the error before. I had initially registered and titled the car from a manufactures certificate on my own, rather than have the dealer do it (paid Cash/bank check for car from NYS - Long Is. dealer) and I never noticed the error - MVS F;'ed it up. Had to get new registration and title docs from MVS, with the usual 4 + hour wait and went back to have car reinspected. :flushed:

Does anyone know of an independent inspection place that is more or less "modder friendly"? ;)

I will NEVER, EVER pay for my auto inspection. Don't mind the shouting, I am quite adamant about this! Comce up here and get to the Paramus testing station. I've seen clunkers putting out blue smoke passing inspection. Damn, I think my car is louder than yours and I passed with flying colors! Come on up here and you will pass. If not, let's get to Newark or Paterson and pass there!

I can't understand why PAY when its FREE??!? F the clean-air nazis. I bet they all drive SUVs that get 2-4mpg while I get 26!!! F them!!! :disgust::mad::mad::mad:

All I have to say is GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

<RANT>
Those fat bastards running the show think they are the greatest thing to this state. Let me tell you the amount of ****ty ass cars pass inspection all the time, b/c a few bucks were slipped. If the tree-huggers went after the RIGHT people, not people that keep their cars properly TUNED, I would be a happy person. I do my part, I'm a very aggressive recycler, make compost (after I mow the lawn, I dump the clippings on the curb for the town, and some in the backyard) and don't litter. Hell, I didn't wash my car the whole drought. Only once, on the one weekend we were allowed too! I saw lots of people watering their laws and washing their cars! ARGH!!!!!!!!

My car is always in proper tune, well, when it runs. ;) But, that's another story, altogether! Damn those tree-huggers, damn, damn, damn them! Let's not forget about the car that are stuck in traffic, idling for 20-30 mins at a time. Why you ask, well, the damned MASS TRANSIT SYSTEM SUCKS MY ASS!!! (I'm not adamant about this!) People refuse, or just can't take mass transit, because it is just not convient. I know, I used to work 1600-0000 M-F. I could get into the city, via mass tranist, but could I get home, nnnnnnnoooooooooo! Those jackasses in NJ Tranist, feel people should leave the big, bad, NYC by 2312. Because of that stupid, lameass response by NJ Transit, I had to drive in everyday, for 2 years. Sitting in traffic, causing smog and other bad things. Not too mention the jackasses in NYC that CANNOT DRIVE!

My SVT has been keyed, bashed, rear-ended and all around abused by the dumbass parking lot guys and the idiots that walk/live/act stupid in NYC!!! I hate driving in the city with my SVT, because someone is always looking funny at me! So, happily I took my little Impreza into work everyday. And let me tell you this, that car was barely touched, discounting the fatty that bashed my door with his Exploder's door, almost everyday. LOSE SOME WEIGHT, FATASS and BE MORE CONSIDERATE TO OTHERS! I know I'm a little overweight, but dammnit! I always make sure to be aware of other vehicles around me, and not damage them!

So, I don't give a rats ASS about electric cars, or hydro cars, cars that work on your own gas (although I could fart and make the car go faster!)

I want people to take mass tranist, when possible! By doing so, emissions will be reduced, and no more BULL**** about your BULL**** loud exhaust and possibly tainted emissions systems!
</RANT>

Ahh, sane again! :)

p.s. one last piece of insanity...get the old, blue smoke, white smoke clunkers off of my goddamnned roads! You drive to slow, and really, really, STINK!!!!

wait a minute...why did you fail with the taillight covers? Cuz there's no "reflector" there? cant you just go to an auto store and buy a stick on red reflector??? i go for inspection in july!

I still have all 3 cats on there, and 2 mufflers with resonated tips...My car was quiet up on the rollers...sooo

My probe was obscene sounding and it passed...and with all this clean air stuff, my car is clean. It's actually an environmental savior. Breathing in O2 and putting out CO2 for the trees to breathe and produce oxygen for us to live on...

F* U NJ DMV...

that's my new license plate... FUNJDMV...

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I still need a driver's side tail light to borrow...

Well, I had the stock exhaust on the car and the inspector said "that's a nice-looking exhaust - not too loud either. I'm gonna pass you." Uhhh thanks?? it kinda came like that from the factory?

When I went to a state facility, I failed for taillight covers(no reflector showing), vinyl on windshield, viinyl on headlights, and HORRIBLE emmissions cuz of CEL

I went to a LEGAL shop (pm me for location) and paid the $50 to test since they didnt care about the taillight covers, windshield/headlight vinyl. However, my CEL had been fixed and my car passed emissions with flying colors --- with my yodude too ;)

Moral of the story: If you have anything illegal on the car(that cant easily be removed or will cost more to replace than the test itself), and can still pass emissions .... PM me for the shop :)
