View Full Version : Door lock stuck...

At first I figured it was due to the cold weather, but we had a warm snap a few days ago and it got to 45.

What's happening is the keyhole is "open", wheras you can see into the lock. When I put the key in she go all the way in it feels but I can't turn it. I've tried thumping around the lock area, jiggling the key till almost the point of breaking it off & just repeatedly jamming it in there.

Any ideas? Think someone put glue in there or is it just broken somehow. My passenger side works fine.

Jeez; I'd squirt some WD-40 in there, see what that does.

Couga- "G's and Hustlas" was just playing, and it was hilarious alongside your avatar. That's awesome.

Open up the hatch, take off the right taillight, look at the assembly - it's probably pushed in a little. Make it line back up with the metal, and it should be fine. The tabs that hold the mechanism can get weak and crack, thus pushing the mechanism into the metal itself.

As far as the door goes, you probably need a new lock... the barrel sounds like it came apart inside, and most like it is not jambed, as one of the pins isn't coming down anymore. Shouldn't cost any more than a hundred at the dealership.

God damn! $100?

I'd take it apart and fix it myself before that.

:) Sorry, that's what they quoted me on my hatch lock, after someone tried to break in -- it was the same assembly for the doors, so I would think it was the same price.

I would try the WD-40 before anything else...

Good luck,
Sunni :)

WD-40 did the trick. She sticks occasionally, but I gave the lock a good working with the key after spraying it so it should soak in nice.

Thanks!
