View Full Version : DJ lost a wheel.
Last night DJ came to lincoln and on his way home he was rounding a corner and his new cougar he has had for 2 days lost the right front wheel dropping the car and busting the hell out of it. The tow guy said ti looks like the lugs where tighted to tight and the busted off.
Sounds like the frame could be bent as trunk won't close right and door on the pass side is messed up. He took pics and will post them later. SO sorry DJ this sucks! Insurance is covering it but still sucks!!!
If the frame is bent would that be end of the car?
Here are the pics I have of it before the drop... his is the black one mine is the silver.
that really sucks, sorry to hear that. i hope he was ok. i cant imagine how that would feel after having a car for 2 days, i had my other cougar for over a year and was pretty upset when i crashed it.

That really doesn't look too bad. He must not have been going very fast, the rotor is hardly scratched. I think we can safely say DJ is ok (besides that feeling you get when your kitty is out of comission). :( Hopefully where the tire hit will just need body work. Don't know about the trunk not closing though, that would suck if the shock spread through the whole frame.
Anyone know of stronger lugs we can use? forged or hardened?

Considering the newness of the car from the used lot, try to deflect most of the blame on them and see if they will pay to have the car fixed.

dont worry. the lug nuts were on waaay to tight on the front left tire.. and the Ford delership said that you would have had to use an impact wrench too do this. and thats why the front right broke off.. the dealership had there service rotate the tires... just a few days before i bought the car. im now fighting the dealership too pay for everything, and the lot that i bought the car from lied about who did the service check before they sold it.. they said it was done at a Blue Oval Ford. buuuuuut it was done buy the lot owners friend

Holy, all four snapped that low.. probably bubba and his 300Ft lbs of torque on the air gun tightening those up.
BTW thats an easy bodyshop fix on the fender... its called Z3 fenders... tell the dealer it'll be cheaper for them.. ;)
