Looking to install my amp in the Cougar - any drawbacks to attaching it to the back of the sub-box?

Just as long as it has ample ventilation, I don't believe it makes any difference at all!

And it'll be a PITA to take the sub out if you ever need the trunkspace, what with all the wires.
I have mine mounted towards the bumper/latch area. That way it's out of the way, extra wires hide in the spare tire well & it looks clean.

I have amps on both of my back seat-backs. It looks nice and they are out of the way. I have had no problems with ventilation or over heating.
when i had a system i had my amp mounted on the back of my back seat. would it be possible to put an amp under the rear seats to be completely out of view or is there not enough room under there?

Under the rear seats is where you get to the gas tanks. The rear seats sit right on it practically.

ya... not too smart to put too much under tehre... plus there's not a lot of room to play with...
also... my old system i had my amps on the backs of the seats with flush moutns built around them... still no problem with heat and ventilation ;)

mounting to the box may not be a good idea due to intense vibration. seat backs are your best choice IMO

Here you go...mine are mounted to the back of the sub box allowing easy access if i ever want to change them or need to repair them. Plus, i got neon lighting them up at night.
