Many of you have seen "The Transporter". He's got a keypad ignition system in his BMW - any info on where I could get one or read more about it - links, companies, etc?
I want to be able to start the car solely through entering a pin number on a keypad put in the interior of the 2002 Cougar.
Thanks!

I remeber Clifford having an alarm that you had to enter a pin to start the car. I don't know about it starting the car though..

Try to look up VSE SECURITY SYSTEMS. like model Derringer II VS-8900, they had an option to interphase with a keypad, which alternatively could start the car.

Hi - I'm new here. I came to tell you that I am developing a keypad ignition system.
It can also control whatever accessories you may have, up to 7 of them in addition to ignition. This could be sound system, NOS, lighting, etc
Briefly, the system comes with a preprogrammed master code that you specify to me. Then you program in your own codes to each of the different outputs. I am installing mine with a push button ignition, and it can also be installed so that the keypad can start the car on its own once you enter the correct code. It also has a kill switch that will shut off all outputs if you hold the switch down for about 3 seconds.
Prices are currently in the $30-$40 range, although the cost will vary depending on what keypad you want, etc.
This is for the first batch only. After that, I will price them so as to make some profit. Expect $75 range.

I should have a website up soon as well.

I have the Clifford alarm system (Gen4 9000) with a keypad (called the Blackjack system) which requires that you enter a code into the keypad when you start the car. It is an anti-carjacking feature...If you don't enter the code, the car gives you 30 seconds of warning, and then begins to flash the headlights (to call attention to the vehicle), sounds the alarm, and once the car drops below 1500 rpm, the car COMPLETELY dies (sitting there with the alarm going off and the lights flashing) and you CANNOT restart the car without entering the code. It makes the car virtually unstealable. Also, ALL the wiring involved in the alarm system is BLACK (no color coding so even if you know what color wire to cut it won't do you any good).

What about if you were armed with a towtruck? Would it still be unstealable? I guess that's where the "virtually" comes in!

that would be neat. except when you had to have your car serviced.

you can change the code to something that the mechanic knows, and change it back when he's done ;)
