Hi
Just discovered and joined the NECO forum although have had my Cougar for 15 months now. Bought it 12 months old, 2.5L Auto, Silver with X pack. Love the car.
Only fault is headlights ( and internal LCD displays) flicker, particularly on switch on. Dies away, but not completely, after about 10 minutes.
Ford maintained at major service and the mechanic said no problem, the LCDs normally flicker. 'Is it a feature' ??

Hi Xcougar and welcome to NECO....not too far from me (Poynton, near Macclesfield)
I've not heard of this problem and mine doesn't do it but it might be worth doing a search in the NECO forums....(the red Search button at the top).
Have you checked-out the UK chapter of NECO?.....a lot of the members post here and are very knowlegeable!

There's a TSB about this. The problem is a high resistance in the central junction box, the cure involves fitting an additional battery cable. The TSB number is 053/2001, go on, cause some red faces at your Ford dealer :biggrin:

Thanks for the advice on the TSB. Are such private to Ford or is there any access on the web ? I'm beginning my serach now.

The TSBs are officialy Ford only. Maybe one or two can be found on the web, but they're bound to be in some obscure place with little or no chance of finding them. What you need is a copy of the Technical Information System CD, which is where the information came from. PM or email me and I'll sort you a copy out.
