View Full Version : 2k2 Cougar & 1966 Skylark Top Speed...

So me and OJE drive down to the track so he can get some numbers with his 2k2 Cougar and I can with my 66 Skylark... but unfortunately track is closed...
He is following me and pulls next to me at 70-80... we both punch it, I walk away from him... he catches up, then we do it all over again.
This goes on for at least 10 minutes... "Wahhhhh"... there he goes flying past me... so I get into the 'ol flying brick to catch up to him. He stays on it (I remember my brother telling me they were at about 115-120mph), I finally start gaining ground real fast... now its my turn to blow by--my speedo goes 120, and the needle disappeared into the dash--just as I am 2 cars ahead and pulling away MY DOOR UNHOOKS AND FLIES OPEN!!! LOL Needless to say we dropped down a mph or two after that.
We were talking about it last night, so I thought I'd share... OJE if you are reading, feel free to add-on.

Whoooaaaa! Your door came unhooked? I always heard about blowing people's doors off but dang!

:rofl: haha crazy... the best i've got is passing a cop that's going 110 at 157 mph... and the cop pulling us over without a radar just telling us that he was amazed b/c he was going 110 and we "blew his doors off" haha.... great times :)

ya it was a joke but stuff like that is just amazing to watch. for example i watched my friend slip in ice with his jeep and hit 2! telephone polls! i mean it was just amazing to see something that close and it was awesome. my friend was fine and i did rush to get him out but at that moment i was just in awe of the accident

ya i know....... very very funny except for when you race your friend's truck in mom's minivan and hit a pole yourself in reverse ha! it was so funny still though... totalled the van.... :( but the got a golf and as a restult today, i talk to NECO and own a cougar ;)

ya sometimes... but with my life being where it is right now.... that qoute seems a bit misplaced.... read the sticky in OT if you want to see why.

diablo chip is not needed for turbo application :) neither is my maf as it comes with 24lb injectors woot woot!
:rofl: i couldnt believe when the door came open, we were moving. we had to be going over 100 for a while and all the sudden i see the door open. his brother was in the car with me and as we hit 110 he looks over and says well i can honestly say ive never gone this fast in a car. it was a fun drive even though the track was closed.

um ok? so your saying that a door flew open at 110mph and you were in the car? :confused:
no we were driving almost side by side on a 2 lane road, both going 100+. i could clearly see his car and i saw his door open.

That don't make any sense, the door could not fly open since the force of the wind would keep it closed. Try to open your door while on the highway, not gonna happen!
He's not articulate...but he has a point.
