True story about my friend. He was driving like a jack ass one night probably drunk. He picked up one of my friends and was driving back to his place. What he didnt know was that a cop was following him the WHOLE time. He ran stop signs, bad turns, no signal, speeding.... you name it.
Well when they got to his place the cop flashed his lights on and then cuffed my friend and threw him on the hood. They went through the whole deal of yelling and threating him and what not. Ending up giving him 12 points on the spot for all the crap he did. THey said their shift was over and didnt feel like dealing with taking him in or something like that so they didnt impound his car or arrest him for DUI. LUCKY HIM!
Anyways he got a lawyer for like $500.... that lawyer settled out of court and my friend only ended up with 2 points total for something stupid I think. He didnt loose his liscense either. Needless to say ... if your in a jam spend the $$ get a lawyer and you will proably get away almost scott free.

Yes, God "bless" lawyers, for if it wasn't for them irresponsible and wreckless assholes like you and people like you wouldn't be able to continue to menace other drivers on the road with your ****ty driving.
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

I agree. Your messing with not only your life but innocent people that are driving around you when you drive drunk or wreckless. It's not cool! Thousands of innocent people die yearly becasue of drunk driver or just plain careless drivers!
I see no strike warrented here.
FastCougar.com and NewCougar.org does not condone illegal street racing! As such, harsh replies to such stories can and should be expected.

of course if you've got the money you can get away with anything. That's all these points on our licenses are, money. I posted this in the other thread too, I got a lawyer for my two tickets (speeding and neons) which gave me 4 points, but I went to court, paid a fine, and walked out with 0 points. The only downside is that you have to spend a couple hours at the courthouse.

That also depends on what you are trying to get out of.
Speeding slighty? How is that wrong. JUST because it is illegal DOES NOT make it unsafe. People don't seem to understand that.
Doing 90 in a 40 when there are NO cars on the road is, assuming you know how to drive and have 100% visibilty, tires are properly speed rated, and car isn't a total POS then it is perfectly safe to do that. Just because some sign and society says it is "illegal"
Illegality is all dependent on society. As with cuss words. What makes words inappapropriate(sp)? Religion? No, society.
People seem to think that it is unsafe to speed in the US because it is "illegal." Yet, in Germany, on the Autobahn, where there is no speed limit, it is perfectly safe? How exactly does that make sense.
I had an argument with a girl in class, who doesn't like the way I drive, over that exact thing.
Me: So you are saying it is unsafe to do 130 on a US highway when there is NO traffic and 100% visability
Her: [to the rest of the class] he is saying that it is safe when he goes 130 on the highway
Me: I can't do 130.
Her: Thats right.. because you drive a Cougar!
Me: Preciously(sp), and you drive Kia Sephia!
Me: So is it unsafe to do 130 on an american highway just because its illegal?
Her: Yes.
Me: So, in Germany, on the Autobahn, it is safe to do 130 because it is legal?
Her: Yeah.
Me: It's safe because its legal?
Her: Yes.
Me: ".....? How does that make sense exactly?"
Her: Because.
Me: "..."
So by you saying lawyers keep asshole on the roads because they help reduce the consenquences of tickets is rather crude and jumping to conclusions that the guy drives like a dick.
First, he said HIS FRIEND, second, just because one speeds or even runs a stop light when no one is there or a stop sign when you can see no one is there, doesn't make them a "****ty driver" as you said.
You can safely RUN a red light -- this doesn't make you an asshole.... maybe impacient(sp?)... but not necassarily an asshole... nor an unsafe driver.
edit: for the record, I agree that his friend was an idiot and did deserve to have his license taken away. DUI is one of the most stupidest and most irresponsible things one could ever do behind the wheel imho.
I agree, lawers do help keep morons on the road. I also agree that doing 130 on an empty road with 100% visibility is UNSAFE.
What happens if you have a blow out? You see a pot hole in the road that you must swerve to avoid? A dog runs in the road? At 130 you have a much greater chance of losing control of your car.
The greater the speed, the more likely you will lose control of your car.

i laugh at the fools that say "it's safe to drive as fast as XXX MPH...there were no cars on the road...it's ok"
isn't that why it's called an ACCIDENT? read it again: A C C I D E N T. most people, even the (in their minds "good" or "safe" drivers) do not expect to slam into another car, but it HAPPENS.
even if you are the professional driver(s) you think you are, you cannot account for the rest of the population, which as a whole, is lucky to pass a drivers test, let alone evade a reckless driver at high speed.
i just hope it's you by yourself while on your 100+ mph power trip when you turn into a pile of goo, rather than take out someone else that you didn't see on the "open and clear" road.

I just re-read this post and I got no clue what I read the first time when I replied.....I'm very against drunken drivers.....very much against it.....also i'm against people who are not considerate whatsoever to others driving.....so like I said......not a clue what the heck I read the first time.....I recently got outta a ticket by a lawyer becuase the cop said I was street racing when I wasn't.....and i really wasn't either.....doens't pay to have a car that draws attention to a cop having a bad day.....
**Edit: On another note, lawyers do work...I think that is my orignal reason for that posting....I didn't imply once in that post that I am an unsafe driver.....I do agree that some people get away when they shouldn't because of lawyers.....I however am not one of them.....sorry for your misunderstanding.....that can tend to happen when you assume things of people you don't know

Germany has specific rules for the autobahn, as well as having a very strict and difficult test involved as well as people licenses costing 1500 US dollars. The autobahn in germany is an animal all in it's own and it only exists because of the german culture surrounding it's existence. To them a cup holder in a car is a mortal sin. When you drive, you drive; you don't talk on a cell phone or eat a big mac, or make sure your baby doesn't have drool dripping all over itself. Also, german cars are made to handle the speeds of the autobahn. Most car manufactures do NOT recommend driving there vehicles at high speeds. This includes almost every vehicle other than BMW's Mercedes, Porsche, Corvettes, and any other HIGH performance vehicle out there. We aint talking riced out honda civics, or acura type-s's here. We aren't even talking cougars.
The autobahn is paved differently from our highways. They have over 20 inches thick of black top. Ours are 6 inches maybe, if that. Thats over 20 inches! to stop cracking. There are no sudden turns or potholes, and if a single crack appears, THE WHOLE section of road is repaired, not just around the crack. On the autobahn, you drive in the right lane and ONLY pass on the left, you can get pulled over for passing on the right. Also you can get pulled over for going too slow. On the autobahn and in germany you RESPECT other cars and ALWAYS obey ALL traffic signals and/or signs, no matter if there are no cars around or not.
Not paying attention to signs and limits while no cars are around is the STUPIDEST thing you can do, because that is when accidents DO happen. If you don't pay attention to signs when no one is around i suggest you start, and if you are doing so I suggest you get the chip of of your shoulder and think again about how easy it is to in a fraction of a second, think you are on top of the world "crusing around" at a simple 90 mph, and a deer happens to run infront of your car... or there is debree on the road, or a person is crossing the street. I have sped, we all have, but we have to be responsible when we do, and not dumb about it. There is a time and a place for everything. And when it comes to speeding excessively under US speed laws, usually there is not a place for it.

a yellow turning to red

What is the fastest you have driven?

I don't deny speeding. I have, but I did that particular speed on a 6 lane highway, with no traffic. I don't go over 70 on a regular basis. I have gotten my share of speeding tickets, i'm not denying them either. I have also done foolish things, but none of these are more serious than going 20 over the speed limit. Any kind of speeding is dangerous, but the more you do something the more you have the risk of having an accident.

I just don't want to see anyone get killed because they think that speed is not dangerous, or it is ok to do because the autobahn exists. Most people don't know much about the autobahn, so I wanted to tell what I knew about it. My worst nightmare is seeing a Cougar skewered on a guard rail like that one Eclipse that was doing over 120 in Massachusetts a while back.

cougarXR7-- let them skewer all they want...call it Darwin.
it's a fundamental way of thinking that we will not change for them. if they think they are safe on the road, let 'em go to it in the tank-like cougar or any other vehicle. i don't care if someone thinking that way gets hurt/killed, but only for the ones they injure in the process.

I just find it funny that people (not just the two I pointed out) can be
so quick to jump in and argue points that they do not even live by.
If people want to drive fast they are going to do it. There isn't anything
an online forum is going to do about it. You better just hope your family
isn't on the same street they are.

I do live by all the points I made, no matter how I came off in my explanation of concern for people who consistently and carelessly speed. I agree with you on your points, but I feel it is better to say something than nothing at all.

Well said bruddah :)
I never made any statements that I do not live by. I said it is unsafe...and it is, driving that fast is completly unsafe. However, I drive in an unsafe manner all the time....actually, pretty much every time I am behind the wheel of my car, I commit many acts that are unsafe.
Just tonight I was doing a good 110 down the interstate, blaring the radio, one hand on the steering wheel, with a loaded gun under the seat. All I needed was some drugs and a hooker and I would have been all set.

Kudo's to the lawyer for helping to keep a drunk on the road.
Your friend is a complete f'n jackass for not taking it like a man and owning up for his responsibilities and having a lawyer do the work for him. I hope he gets drunk again and kills himself and someone you know. Then that lawyer will be awesome!

Ok so I know that when I posted that it was in "Road Tales" and that I should expect harsh replies.
For starters, Making reply posts that call my friend a moron are pointless. He doesnt drive a cougar and he does not even know these boards exist. I would also not even waste the amount oxygen required to tell him your retarded comments. He knows what he did was really stupid and he doesnt drive like that anymore.
Secondly, this post was to show people that yes you can fight anything in court and possibly win.
He should have gotton a DUI but he didnt. The officers at the time didnt bust him for that. So maybe they felt he was wasnt that intoxicated. Who knows and who really cares.
If you have never driven wrecklessly which includes doing 20 mph over the speed limit, if you have always used your turn signal then go ahead say what you want. But if you have ever broken a law then your comments fall on deaf ears becasue I really dont care.

Oh yeah and then there is a street racing topic in OT... No one has said anything bad about that!
You jump all over my post acting like my friend is the devil... then there are posts about How its cool to street race at 100 MPH. Yeah a lot of people have died doing that too. But yet no one says anything.

See the problem is not the speed some people do, it is their ability to handle the speed and the attention they pay to the road. Most people are daydreaming while they drive or are constantly distracted which causes the accidents. If you wanna drive like a maniac at night when everyone is sleeping, good, then you may only kill yourself!

If somone comes on here and says "Woo hooo, I beat a (insert car name) today. **** it was awsome, we got up to 110 in a 40 at noon on a saturday, near a school, but I wailed his ass!" then I'll jump on them too.
I don't give a **** if you tell him or not. You read it and now you know what I think of your friend.

Speed can, and does, kill, regardless of your level of skill. Car and Driver's Senior Road Test Editor, a man who had driven countless vehicles at well over 150mph (and some at over than 200mph) was killed when a Mercedes he was testing crashed.. It doesn't matter how good you are, accidents do happen
