I did a search but didn't find anything that pertained to what I wanted to know.

Ok I am thinking my cars bottom end is letting me know "I need a rebuild" . Another member told me to put a SVT crankshaft in it. Is it a direct fit and what else would I need to put it in? Make it run right?

Thanks

uh, first of all this should be in the performance section

secondly there is no such thing as an "SVT crankshaft", every duratec crankshaft is the SAME (2.5L or 3.0L)

and if the bottom end of your engine needs a rebuild, don't do it. Pull it and replace it with a 3.0L for the same amount of money. A brand new 3.0L from a junker will be $1000 or less

SVT crankshaft and stock are the same, however, the SVT one is hand selected. What does this mean? Dont know...closer to spec?

Demon, I seriously dont think you need a rebuild...

all hand selected means is that they took the best gauged cranks after final machining and put them into the SVT engines

considering how tight the specs are anyways I doubt this makes any difference

and i see in your mods list you have a UDP... thats bad. Very bad. Just because of that it wouldn't surprise me if the bottom end of your engine is gone. For once and for all everyone UDP's and duratecs do not play well together... get the DMD instead!! Crank whip is a killer!!

went to my buddies garage today and he's gonna look at it for me. he said it could possibly be the timing chain. yea the UDP is going soon as i get a DMD. as for the 3.0...nah i rather 2.8L hybrid my motor. more potential out of that imp than a 3.0L swap.

He's got a 2.5l that came out of a contour sitting in his garage so it might work out good that i can use the parts from that one. the timing chain in that 1 went but the rest of the motor is solid. i'll let ya's know what that noise is. Ivo...what do you think it is? you heard it so whats your thought on it?

we determined this when i went to the garage...

not a bottom end noise

not a top end noise(IE-lifter etc...)

not my UDP making noise.

he said it could possibly be the tensioner maxed out and when it flexes its clicking against the locking mechanism.

also said it could be a timing chain.

what noises do these items typically make and what else could it be if anything besides these two things?
