Actually, point of fact, abbrieviating Christmas with Xmas is not necessarily disrespectful - that is of course implying the person using the abbreviation understands the origins of the X...

You may see the abbreviation X-mas or Xmas for Christmas. It was originally a Christian abbreviation, but has been taken over as a secular abbreviation for the holiday. Nowadays some serious Christians find it not so appropriate for those who take the religious significance of the holiday seriously, due to the secularly motivated deletion of 'Christ' in the abbreviation. Originally, the X stood for the Greek letter xi or chi, the first letter in Christ's Greek name. Today X-mas is simply used for convenience, especially in commercial and secular contexts.
