I have a 2001 and am having a problem with condensation and I was told by 2 dealerships that this is normal and that it's probably because of my aftermarket bulbs. Has anyone else had this problem and the dealership dealt with it or did they tell you the same thing? JJ

I have a 2001 as well. I noticed it and took it to the dealer and they gladly replaced it under warranty. The first replacement they gave me had the same condensation problem, so I had to get it done a second time. This was over a year ago and I haven't had a problem since.

Did you have different bulbs in or still the stock bulbs?

The bulbs should have no affect. The headlight lense area should be completely sealed off, and you changing the bulbs will cause no problem. Your dealership is full of BS, and you should call them on it.

I've gone to 3 different dealerships now, all have said the same thing. And when I do call them on it they just shut up and say "Ford doesn't recommend aftermarket bulbs". I know it's BS the last place i talked to the guy actually listened to what I had to say and he knows it made sense. One place I went to said "Take it to the selling dealership" and walked away. So here's my plan, if this last place won't get me a new headlight under warranty I'm going to ask them what they'll do when I put my stock bulbs back in and still have the problem. Oh, I almost forgot this part. One place had the brilliant idea of drilling a hole in my assembly to let air in. Thanks for all the comments. JJ

If they won't replace it, go and get some windshield sealant... the 3m kind is really good -- I used it on my right side light where there was a little condensation, and it hasn't come back. It's cheap too :)

why you telling them what kind of bulbs you have in there in the first place
just replace the bulbs with the factory ones and tell the dealer your story......

Tell them they are full of it. I get condensation in my headlights with stock bulbs in.

DEFinitely are full of it - I had condensation on my 01 in Upstate NY over the summer when the car was still bone stock. If they still don't want to help you, though, I say call them on it and phone Ford Red Carpet Customer Service and tell them the whole story - they work wonders... Your dealer will *quickly* come around.

if you take the back covers off it will get rid of the condensation as well, at least for me it has worked and Crispy does the same thing

Yea i wouldnt even tell them you are using aftermarket bulbs and just see if they figure it out. Still though it should have nothing to do with getting moisture in your lights. If you still have the stock lights just throw them in there for the day and go back to the dealership. Just go to one dealership and move up the chain of command. First talk to the service guy, if he cant help ask for the service manager, if he cant help ask for the dealership manager, and if that doesnt work ask him for his bosses number. Until you get to the owner everyone will have a boss and most times they dont want you to talk to their boss because that means they didnt do their job wel,l so they will most likey do what they can for you so their boss doesnt find out. And if all else fails get fairly loud about it in the showroom with someone, they hate that because others who are buying cars and seeing that someone is unsatisfied. If your fairly aggressive they will back down a lot of times, just go on how you spend almost 20k for a car and you have to deal with these problems and have to keep coming back to the dealer to hear the same answers and no one is helping you. Good luck.
