WOW
how old are you?
I'm 20 and I'm happy to say I've never gotten a ticket. Been pulled over 4 times, all in town, only once for speeding. All I know is there's alot of things I'd rather spend my money on then tickets... ;) And my insurance is expensive enough as it is...

I just got my license back Novemeber 26th. I lost it for 6 months for to many points. I am 19.
Tickets:
illegal Passing of a school bus(BS ticket, i passed before the stop sign was out, but cop said I did it after the sign was out), rolling through a stop sign, passing in a no passing zone, Speeding 9 over, wrecklace driving(got this because the two previous citations were in a construction zone),Speeding 16 over(reason I lost my license).
And my insurance is 235 a month for liability.
Cheapest ticket was 121.00(School bus one)
Biggest ticket was the passing in a no passing zone, Speeding 9 over, wrecklace driving
This was close to $1,000. Since it was doubled because it was in a construction zone.
I have spent at least $2,000 on tickets and my lawyer...
I haven't been pulled over in over 1 year, and I want to keep it that way. A suspended license sucks...I drove anyway, but to school and work only.

OMG... I can't even remember all the tickets I've had...
But I can try:
Failure to observe traffic control device
Speeding (65 in a 40)
Obstruction of view (pulled over for out of date inspection sticker)
Obstructing traffic
Careless driving
Illegal window tint
Warning for speeding (87 in a 65)
Unsafe operation of a motor vehicle
Failure to observe traffic sign
Warning for speeding (72 in a 55)
Maintainance of lamps
Failure to provide change of address (pulled over for doing 84 in a 65)
Almost all of that was in my first year of driving! Once I had my license suspended, I kinda slowed things down... kinda...

I just got out of trouble for some stupid crap while on vacation. I was driving a friend's car (Honda Accord) with a bunch of my friends, and I was attempting to go into a lower parking lot by going down what I thought was a ramp, and it ended up being a flight of stairs. I somehow made it down the stairs into the parking lot, and the parking lot happened to contain a store owned by the mayor of the town. He called the police and they got there before I had to chance to get out of there. I am only 17 and my friend had alcohol in the trunk, so I got busted with a minor in possession, and there were chips in the concrete on the stairs, so I also got a property damage ticket. So, when I returned home, I got a lawyer to take care of it, which ran me $300. So, just recently he got a plea bargain with the court, which then cost me another $536. So, for 2 tickets I had to pay $836! I have never been pulled over before, but I have already paid close to $1000 for stupid tickets.

maybe some day i'll be on cops or some show like that...

55 over in a 55 was on the turnpike at 3am so yeayea not many people on the road but the cop was there...
i dont drive fast when there cars on the road thats just stuiped, only if theres no cars and no one in the car w/ me...
I got pulled over and given a ticket for speeding twice. This one got fixed, I got it 15 minutes after getting the Cougar. So I only paid for one ticket. Funny though because the ticket never showed up on my insurance for a surcharge! I have been pulled over for: Stop sign violation, and speeding many times. Even if I do get a ticket I got the inside connection now;)
Best advise when getting pulled over:
1. Keep both hands on the wheel.
2. Buckle up all times, cops like that. When they ask for your license unbuckle your belt so you can get to your back/front pocket.
3. When asked for your registration/insurance, advise the officer that your going in your glove box.
You don't have to kiss their ass just show them that you respect where they are coming from.

That is a big one. I always tell them that I am going to my glovebox. Before I got the tip to do this, I had two cops freak out because they didn't know what I was doing. Always be VERY polite, and always agree with him, usually they can get a pretty good feel if your a punk or not right from the start. Always answer with sir, or mam, show them you respect them and usually they show it back. But if your a rice burner and have yellow stickers all over your car, have your windows tinted pink, and have a folgers crystals can for a muffler your pretty much **** outta luck no matter what you do
In all time I have never had a problem with a cop, they have always been really nice to me, even though all but two have given me a ticket...

Never had a ticket in 3 and a half years of driving. Estimated fines=$700,
Lets see $700-$255 for y-pipe=$445. $445-$225 for MAF, thats $220 left, hmmm. then its a diablo chip for the rest. That will give me about 20hp or so I should be able to get a $500 dollar ticket and spend a night in jail before I leave the on-ramp, beat that! j/k.

4 tickets. all speeding:
Nov 2000: 85 in a 65...at 12:30am on an empty freeway...at the bottom of a hill...it sux when cops are bored
Feb 2001: 87 in a 65...passing a slow car in the breakdown lane on the freeway...8 mph more and I would've hit the speed governor on my mom's car
Oct 2002: 82 in a 65...passing another slow car which was hogging up the fastlane on the freeeway...apparently I can go 82 in 3rd gear
Oct 2002: 58 in a 40...rolling down another steep hill just barely making the yellow light at the bottom...apparently I can go 58 in 2nd gear
oh yeah, one q:
has anyone tried to plea bargain their tickets themselves? I'm thinking about doing it...is it hard? any advice?

You think that's bad...
I was with a friend of mine when she got pulled over after a night on the town...
Cop: Mam, the reason why I pulled you over is you have a headlight out...
Her: No, I don't...
Cop: I'm sorry to say this, but "Yes" you do..
Her: Bull****...I do not...
Cop: Mam, if you'll get out of your car I will be able to show you that your headlight is out, and then we'll get on with the Sobriety (sp) test.
Luckily, she passed.
Two weeks later, she gets pulled over (again with me after a night at the bars)
Cop: Mam, does your seatbelt work?
Her: Yeah.
Cop: Mam...does your seatbelt work...?
Her: YES!
Cop: Mam...I'm gonna ask you one more time and if you don't put on your seatbelt I'll give you a ticket for that along with the DUI...

I saw this thread and had to put my 2 cents in. Out here in Surprise, Arizona we have quite a few unmarked SPECIALTY police cars.
Example, surprise police department has a 2000 dark blue Mustang GT unmarked. Damn thing even has a spoiler. There is a County Sheriff's department that has a single cab Ford F-150 truck, unmarked.
I had just pulled out from my house, maybe 2 blocks away. Driving down to the corner gas station and I swear, my speedometer needle was hanging between 20 - 25 mph. This butthead comes off of Grand Ave (US60) comes around the corner. We pass, next thing I know he makes a sharp u-turn and is just barreling after me like a mad man and turns his lights on.
Cop: Clocked you 4 speeding, going 43 in a 25.
ME: How do you know it was me, when a White Ford expendition was in front of me before I turned onto the road.
Cop: Radar
ME: Again, was it me or the Expendition.
COP: You
This cop had no idea who was speeding, only claiming it was me. I think he saw my RED car and assumed it was me. I work for a local government agency and made some inquiries about this.
My contact suggested that if I can take a driving class, then do it. Right now with the economy being bad and the local cities being strapped for cash, the courts are having a zero tolerance for traffic violations.
Just sucks now, because I need to buy tires and now I have to use the money pay for this stupid thing...

Dude...that's SO weak. I can't believe the SOB did that to you!!! My advice also would be to take the class if you can - I took it in Tempe (it was actually less expensive than the ticket), and basically it involved a couple of boring lectures and then just watching videos that are essentially no different than "World's Wildest Police Chases," only they're supposed to be "educational" instead of entertainment.
That aside, we should meet up sometime and just BS about cars if you want... Suprise is fairly close to Glendale, yes? PM me or something if you want to...

I'm 18, 0 tickets so far, although I speed almost all the time. It seems as though everytime I get stuck behind some grandma going 10 under, a cop always passes me and I know I would have been ticketed if the grandma wasnt there.
My plan is stay lucky, not stop speeding
And - 2000CUGR, dont be a troll. Whether he keeps track of his tickets or not isn't relevant, why start a pointless fight? And its pretty immature to tease him for not having a v6.. has it occured to you that maybe all his tickets used up his money so he had to get an I4?

Oh man if I had 19 tickets I can guarantee you I would not be allowed to drive. As of right now, my folks still pay my insurance, which I'm really thankful for, and in return I'm doing what I can to not make it cost more then it has to. They pretty much told me that if I ever get a ticket, that I'd be paying the insurance, or at least the difference caused by the increase. I can't even imagine what it'd be like if I had 19 tickets.
Also, thank you 2000cugr and fastzetec for settling your little dispute. No need for meaningless arguments.

I'm 20 and a while back I got hit by a county cop with two tickets: doing 42 in a 25 and having neons on ("lights prohibited without permit")....I went to court cuz my sister knew a good lawyer (she prob has more tickets than all of you combined lol) and I when I get out I had 0 points on my license, but was $400 poorer. Turns out the judge changed the neon ticket into a warning but I had to pay to get the speeding ticket points off.

Your mom still pays for your insurance? Damn!
Mine is 100 a month now and as of Feb 26 it will be 126 for totalling my sisters 2000 civic.
Pulled over for 70 in a 40 -- let off w/ a warning because she "Couldn't get a lock on me because the sun was shining too bright"
Ticketed for Disregarding a stop sign for a ISD police for the school I go to at night. I ran it RIGHT in front of him... I couldn't see the car and didn't want to get stuck behind the car that was coming.... which I obviously didn't know was a cop then.. -- Nice cop.. Asked me "What color would you say this is?" Me: "Spruce green." Him: "green?" Me: "yeah...." He even told me about all the things he is doing and has done to his new 2001 Eclipse... Yet, still wrote me the damn ticket.
Speeding 50something in a 45 -- I can honestly say I didn't know I was doing that fast... I was just crusin' with a friend and listening to music.
Speeding 50something in a 45 -- Knew I was speeding. Radar detector went off, saw a cop... decided that he already got me so find somewhere to turn but don't slow down and make it obvious... just continue going the speed I was going, but not speed up... so I passed another cop who actually was the one who pulled me over and clocked me... grr -- payed ticket, violated previous speeding ticket probation by 7 days.. still awaiting a court date from my lawyer.
Just got one for Running Red (YELLOW DAMNIT!) Light in my friends 99 ATX Mustang (like the 3rd time every driving a damn ATX) like two months ago and I really didn't think I could slow down...
Also, for expired inspection on the same ticket, that was dismissed.
Still awaiting a court date on that one too from my lawyer.
I was turning onto a street and I brighted some cars telling them that there was a cop ahead... one of them was a cop, so he slowed WAY down and I waited in the intersection for him to go and he finally crossed the intersection and I TOOK OFF and went through a parking lot and I saw him hit a U as soon as I turned and when I was going through the parking lot I saw some headlights going diagnal through the parking lot also (like 3am, empty parking lot) (not necassarily the cop..). Went over some speedbumps at like 40 and drove up to my driveway and parked... didn't see any cops drive by.
Just totaled a 2000 Civic.
The other lady said I ran a stop sign (which is BS because the last thing I remember was stopping at a stop sign... and then I remmeber some guy asking if I was ok) On the police report it says factors taht contributed: failed to yeild right of way at stop sign, and factors that may or may not have contributed: failed to stop at stop sign.
I KNOW for sure that I didn't run it.
She also said she was going 30(speed limit), and a cop at my school asked what happen (I had a big bandaid on my forehead[9 stitches] and my arm in a sling [broken collarbone] and a broken blood vessel in my eye) and I showed him the pictures of it, and he said she was at least doing ~50. No ticket for the stop sign.
Still awaiting settlement, investigation of accident, and everything else... sister (owner of the civic that I was driving) is still driving a rental car.
The disregarding a stop sign is on the record. I have no idea what happen on the accident but have analyzed it and according to the way I turn at corners, (go straight and then sharply (kinda) cut it the way I'm truning opposed to turning and facing traffic kinda for a second..) she should have had enough time to stop or avoid it or at least try to slow down.... to me, or anyone else who thought about it... it doesn't make sense how me, turning left, and her going towards me, can hit both of our driver side corners.. meaning I would have to get hallway across a 4 lane (2 each way) street from a complete stop and her to not see me and not be able to change lanes and avoid it... That all was two Dec 9 at 12.53 (last time I looked at the clock before it was happen was 12.51 pm, and it happen right after that) I still have a broken collarbone and big sore on my forehead...
2000 Honda Civic v. 1991 Ford Explorer...... just doesn't work.

Man, how can you guys afford to keep driving? Your insurance rates must be killer if you can even afford to pay the damn insurance on the car. I have never gotten a ticket (except parking tickets) and even got pulled over doing 92km in a 60km zone on my buddy's R6 and the cop let us go saying he would have only issued a ticket if I would have been doing 100km. Guess the american cops are way worse than the canadians.

no wonder why there are accidents.. geez a f*cking retard could drive better than some on you. If you have your liscense taken away 2 times before you are even 21 thats a sign that you have a problem!

Side note: I dont understand somethings. WHy people get angry at police officers when they pulled over doing 20+ over the speed limit. Your breaking the law so you get what you deserve.

I just got a ticket yesterday. I was driving on Rt 100 (kinda a big highway in MD), and there was this cop in a marked car in the left lane going about 45. I preceeded next to him so now I was in the middle lane and I just drove normal and caught to 60mph and passed him. I didnt do it to be a smartass or anything I was just going with the flow of the traffic. Then I put on my blinker about 4 car lengths ahead of him and he pulled me over. The outcome, the highway speed is 55, I was doing 60 and he gave me a $60 ticket then he said I cut him off which was complete bull. Right as I was about to drive off he was like dont cut off anymore cops, I was like uh huh. I didnt want to argue with the ticket he gave me.

I've gotten pulled twice for bullsh*t (I love the look on a cops face when he sees a girl in the car, lmao). Once for not having my headlights on (I usually just run parking lots & fogs) and another time in TN for blocking traffic  the cop was just looking for something to do. No tickets though. I consider myself lucky. I speed like it's my job, constantly weave traffic, pass from the right, don't use turn signals, etc..etc..
