Im looking to replace the stock speakers in my 99 cougar basically cuz they are terrible with my pioneer head unit. Since they are gonna be a christmas gift, I don't want to go over $200 for all 4 and Im having a hard time deciding what to get. I've heard some nice pioneer and Polc (sp) but i just wanted some opinions. Any thoughts

Derff - It all depends on what kind of sound you like. I would choose the Polks over Pioneer. Polks are fine speakers, especially if you will add an amplifier down the road.
Any how check out the E-bay or something, I am sure you can find a descent set, for front and rear, around 150 - 200 dollars.
if you will stick with coaxial the price will be lower as well. the components or separates ones will always be more expensive.
Good luck in search for your new set of speakers.

Best Buy has Kenwood and Pioneer 6X8's that fit perfectly. The Kenwood's are 89.99, and the Pioneer's 99.99 a pair. I know that people here will probably yell NOOO!!, but you can try these and they fit your budget. I have tried both, and they both sound OK in the mids and highs but the Pioneers are very bassy which is great in the back, but got on my nerves in the doors. So I went with the Kenwood's all around and picked up the bass slack with the sub I already had installed. Also, if someone gives you one brand as a gift and you don't like them you can easily exchange them for the other.

Thanks sintaxera. I went with the Kenwood 6808's in the front and the 5708's in the back. I don't need too much bass in the back because im running my subs back there. Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated!

No problem. Did you install them yourself because there's a few nice how to's around on these forums if you search for them.
