Guys,

Welcome to my first post.

Just a querie to see if any of you would be up for a meet at some point between christmas and new year. Yes I realise that the weather will more than likely be crap but it could be worth grinning and bearing it especially if some of us have recieved some new car mods from the fat man in the red coat, I know I will have done. Also we may finally get to see the mystical 3 litre Cat that we keep hearing rumours about.

The venue could be more towards the midlands this time to suit some of you more northern cat owners. Any ideas?

I don't know if you were thinking of anything Andy as our event co-ordinator type blokey.

Let's know your thoughts

Yes that sounds like a great idea but you know everytime i say i will be at these meets something goes wrong with the car and i can assure you the mystical 3.0L is a real beast!!! I have had it back two weeks now and so far so good, i was going to suggest we meet up over Christmas so i will be there as long as the car keeps going

Superb,

If anyone knows of any events already taking place then we could use this as a meeting point. It doesn't even need to be car related just somewhere with a car park and preferably of some interest so if anyone was thinking of suggesting their local wickerwork fete then don't bother:ugh:

Justin are you still with us mate? I'm now living near the base so if you fancy meeting up before hand then we could drive up in tandem should you be able to make it.

Hey neighbor  I'm going on vacation from the 21-29 of December but anytime after that I'd like to get together with you. Where in Mildenhall do you live and what kind of goodies are you getting for the car?

Stu: Glad you finally got the hang of this Internet thingy
Just change your country of residence to UK in your profile and you're set ;)
A meet-up would be nice.....

Damo: Don't worry about breaking down...just phone us from whichever motorway you grind to a halt on and we'll come and keep you company :cover:

Damn ...and I was gonna put on a show of macrame seat covers and batik floor mats..never mind lets hope I can still show the wickerwork wheel trims. Anyhoo make a date and I will try and get there. It all depends on the shift work patterns matching up. for example I am off work up until christmas day then I work, if thats what you call it, all over christmas and all over the new year. Anne works all over christmas and is off new years day. It's a tough job but someone has to do it. It will be a very dry christmas ...might as well be a muslim!

So salaam alekum my cougar brothers and sisters see you at the next meet inshallah

To answer Justins question the crimbo mods will be some 18" BK 121's, lowering springs, rear light covers and a private Number plate plus some other little bits & bobs:banana:

To those of you guys which seem to have developed this wickerwork fetish is not very healthy, you should loose the slippers, driving gloves and courduroy slacks and soon the urge to touch platted sticks may fade away.

If people can let me know exactly which dates are good for them then I can choose the one which suits the most people rather than picking a day and then finding out that actally no one can make it.

To all you others which haven't responded to this COME ON this is finally your chance to see Damo's motor, I've got a feeling it'll be worth the wait.

Hey Shandy..I'll have you know I don't wear driving gloves...I took them off when I was making the basketweave grill inserts. Just couldn't get the weave right with gloves on!! I will consult my World of Corduroy 2002 calendar and give you some dates.

By the way blackadder the weave only comes in natural. Suggest they could be colour matched using an appropriate primer and two pack paint.

Hey Bazza, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's not up to speed on the latest craze that is custom wickerwork !!

Now that I know there's at least some interest I shall put my thinking cap on (100% wicker of course) and try to come up with a decent place to meet, once again any ideas will be mucho appreciated, and then I shall let you all know the selected venue.

Cheers,

Stu

Ok Bazza...Macrame is a sort of crochet/knitting with cord, string or rope. You can make hammocks, pot holders, seat covers etc..Batik is the art of dying material on which a drawing has been made in wax. the dye takes on the unwaxed area and you heat up the material to get rid of the wax. That way you can die a cougar badge into your favourite macrame string vest!

Guess you have to be an old hippy to know about this sort of stuff!

Anyway from xmas through january is crap time wise for Anne and me so I guess you good folks will have go somewhere without us. A nice craft fair or an antique market. That's the problem with shift work I always seem to get a nice tuesday or a friday off wheras most of the world likes a lazy sunday. Let me know anyway and will see if I can get a work around.

The only reason Wicker still exists in the 21st century is it keeps an insane mind happy.

Give a bundle of sticks to the guy in the first cell and in two weeks he will have made a chair.

Take the chair off hime go to the next cell and pass it to the patient and say here mate unravel that.

A classic case of recycling

Wicker.........let it go , just let it go

Wickerman...classic cult film...wicka also known as witchcraft..wow where is this thread going:slap: Oh now I know. I think the throttle body question may be answered if you search the archives. No money in my pockets at the mom for a Throttle body hence the homecraft works. Now I wonder if I can use my old Mr Potato Head set to make a new gear shift knob.;)

Deadlock

Why not carve a throttle body out of balsa wood? While you're under the bonnet, wicker tubes sprayed with Plasticote silver look just like aeroquip hoses.....

Guys,

I have tried to find a suitable meeting point but with no joy so if anyone can suggest a venue then we can all get together.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys,
Sorry i've been away for a while but you can rest assured that the modding hasn't stopped. I'm on a mission to achieve the 150db that I set as my target last summer and I think I have found a way to do it!! Watch this space. Shandy, your best bet is to choose somewhere like Northampton. I live in Surrey and can get there in an hour and a half which means most peoples travelling time should be this or less (at least for the V6 boys!! :grin;) I also know that there are a few large complexes where we could all meet and get some food if that's the general plan. I only suggest this place as it is easily accessable from the M6, M40, M25 and A1 ( I think i'm right saying this anyway)
Thats my thoughts anyway, shoot me down if i'm wrong!!
Andy

Finally a suggestion. Do you know an exact place? if so then name the location and it'll be set.

Time's running out.

Stu.

AndyT

How about this. It is called Sixfields and it is just outside Northampton and just off the M1 (J15/16) but can still be got to quite easily from the A1. It has a cinema there as well as a pub I am led to believe. Even if it doesn't have everything we want or we don't feel happy leaving the cars there we can make this the meeting point and possibly go on elsewhere if it isn't to our liking.
Here is a link to a map for the location
Sixfields, Northampton, NN5 5QJ (http://mappoint.msn.co.uk/(5v2xil24uvt5veifplvv21j1)/UK/map.aspx?L=EUR&C=52.23522%2c-0.93655&A=41.56667&P=|52.23522%2c-0.93655|1|NN5+5QJ+(postcode)%2c+United+Kingdom|L1| )
Don't know if dates have been sorted yet but a Sunday would be good for me as I work Saturdays! :banghead:
Hope this helps.

12-28-2002, 07:56 PM
Sorry lads,

I aint been too well over the last few days so I've been unable to finalise these arrangements.

As Damo has said this is too late to pencil in for tommorow so how about new years eve. Yes yes yes I know that we all have better things to do like getting completely bladdered:beer:    but if we start reasonably early then there is nothing to stop us getting on our way at about 2 or 3pm.

The place will be as per Andys directions with a start of say 9am.

Please confirm or decline your attendance either by posting or e-mailing me.

Cheers,

Stu.

Trying to steal the Cougar from Anne this weekend. She is working on Sunday but If I can get her to work I can have the car to play with!. At the moment I think a boat or amphicar would be more approppiate:ugh: The weather here in Kent is awful plus when Anne gets to work she will be busy with all the Breakdowns folks are having...yep if you call the AA you may well get to say Hi to Anne:wave: She works at the call centre in Maidstone. Anyhoo I will try my best to get there.

Once again the Gods have conspired against me:banghead: No it's not the Cougar gone wrong so rest easy folks it's my sons car. It swallowed a load of water whilst he was going through a puddle and the engine has locked up solid. I tried to empty it out by removing the glow plugs (it's a dirty smelly diesel) and turning the motor over but I think something has broke inside so the motor will not turn. The upshot of this is we are now down to one car between the four of us. The Scimitar lost it's clutch and is in the workshop having its hydraulics seen to, the Diesel now needs a new engine and the Cougar is running great but is now ferrying everyone around to work so unless a miracle happens I can't make it on sunday:cry: Damn I had just arranged everything as well.

Damo,
I'd have to buy a house with a bigger garden first and even then I'm not sure I could put up with Greenpeace Protestors and the Environment Agency visiting every 5 minutes!
Only kidding, sorry you had to leave early and I hope you get it sorted once and for all.

To everyone else,
Good to see you all again and to meet Chris and his girlfriend (sorry cannot remember her name :flushed: )
Had out first "drive by recruit" today; Colin hope you can get to a PC soon.
Justin; can I echo Andys thoughts, safe trip and keep in touch. Liked your Strut Brace, on my shopping list now!
Nice mods Mr Handy!
Very loud Gareth!
Andy, always very, very loud!!

We must do it again soon.

To those who couldn't make it,
Maybe see you next time!

Cheers,
Mike.

PS.
Will post some pictures when I have reduced. Had camera on max. resolution. I'm sure nobody wants me to post a dozen pictures of just under 1Mb each!

Glad to hear you're being positive about getting your car straight because it is AWESOME!! Mike, Emma, Stu (and little Stu), Andy, and Gareth --- you guy's rule and are a great bunch of people. If you ever come to the States just look me up.

You Guys all look cold but Happy! Sorry I couldn't get there but having problems juggling 4 people and 1 car at the moment:( Major Car problems just after the expense of Christmas). The Scimitar needs a new Clutch Master cylinder but there are none available so I am having to get one reconditioned from a Scimitar specialist, The Citroen is, I think, officially dead so that will have to be scrapped and the search for a replacement started. Fingers crossed that the Cougar stays ok. It's too damn cold to go out on the Kawasaki. I will admit I have turned into a wimp in my old age.

I will see you before you go Justin...besides I owe you one! So I gotta pay you back:bowdown:
