ok after i order my bumper/fenders i'm gonna be left probally with about 4k to spend on mods (this is all cosmetic this year where next year i am going for turbo hehe), what would you recomend me getting with 4k? i am wanting to lower it , new 18' wheels and a new body kit, think that can be done and installed with 4k?? (5,200 actually if i sell my current kit and wheels that are for sale)

anyhoo thats what i had in mind for mods, what do you all recomend??

p.s how much is a good airbrushing job?

4K for purely cosmetic? wow!
I'm not sure what you already have, but this is just my personal opinions
Kam Hood
side markers
tail light covers
tinted windows
painted headlights
body kit
nice set of 18's
maybed body graphics if your into that.

sure you do... trade it and I bet your monthly payments with that 5k down would be about the same...

airbrushing will suck most of that 4K alone... and when doing airbrushing you need to get the car repainted and i doubt you'll have enough (even with 5200)......

my recommendations.... hood / fenders / rims... (400 + 300 + 1500 + shipping (400) = 2600$)... that will leave you another 2600 to get the car repainted... maybe even molded if you can find the right body shop.... and while you are molding, for the low low price of pretty well free or 1-2 hours labour get the hatch shaved, remove the rear wiper and emblems....

you have mentioned in other threads about the ground clearance of the aero xtreme kit... well practice even before you get it painted - ya you'll look like a seed driving around with a blue body kit on a black car but if you scrape it you can get it fixed before painted... i would put some serious miles on the car to get used to the new height then pull it into a body shop... THEN after a few months you should consider springs... not until then..,.... 18" wheels should also get rid of some of the wheel gap.....

btw: keep it up with theses mods and we will have nearly twin canadian cougars :)

haha, there is a member on here actually who has almost the exact same mods as me and his cougar is also black so when we go crusing everyone takes double takes with two identical modded cougars driving,

as for shaving the back, meh i dunno i like my cougar emblem and stuff on the back to recognzie what i have.

i do have one little door ding in my driver door i'll probally get that pulled out as well so my car is nice and "smooth"

the shops here have a hard time finding wheels for my car so my selection is kinda limited (afraid to get them from the usa and pay huge prices for them after the exchange).

p.s puck you should travel down to halifax with your cougar sometime for a trip, love to see your car.

i meant more along the lines of shaving the rear wiper (make it clean back there)... the emblem holes, then if you still want an emblem just remove the pegs and use double sided tape... you are getting the car repainted anyhow so it won't be much more, plus if you change your mind or want a different emblem it's must easier to do.... also if you find a few more bucks, have some fun, get the 3rd brake light filled in and mold in a cadillac one or something (long thin line going across entire hatch)

for rims, find what you want on the inet, and i can ask around here, i'm sure some guys in Toronto wouldn't mind looking either, as long as they are shipped within canada you won't get raped by duty.....

If I bought the kit, and still had 4k.. I'd paint the kit and do a 3.0 Conversion..

To extend on Pierre's post about driving around unpainted to practice driving with it lower.. you should also put the kit on for about a week to let it "settle" before painting.. this will prevent any possible cracking in the paint.

cracking in the paint??? where would it crack? you mean on the bottom if i scraped??? last kit i had was painted and just dried for a week then i put it on the car and never had a prob.

i'd also appreciate the wheel search thing man cause like you said duty sucks.

i really like the konig imagines in 17's or 18's (noticed a guy on the forsale section has them for sale) but unfortunatly they are scratched.

IF I had 4 k left over after buying a body kit?? Hmmm let me think. First, 18"rims, complete shave job even door handles. Since I'm not sure on what you have...European tails and headlights, tinted windows(could get you a deal if u come to MD), new hood, Vertical Door Conversion kit if they make it or lamborgini doors. Seen it on a very nice Miata in new issue of HCI. Other than that I'd just get small stuff done and dents and scratches takin out.
