Will the weight difference between the 2.5 and the 2.0 matter that much when choosing springs? I believe that if I get springs designed for the v6 cougar, then the front springs would actually lift the car more than the back, giving the cougar an uneven look... Does anyone know if this is true?

The springs are the same for both the Duratec and the Zetec cougars. I don't think the weight difference would matter much. If I remember correctly, I believe the new edge cougars have great front to rear weight distribution (50/50), which contributes to it's great road handling characteristics.

I have Eibach Pro springs and ST200 struts on mine, and it made the car's great handling....even better.

I also have the Eibach Pro kit lowering springs...
opon installing them, the first thing i noticed was the humungous wheel well gap in the front compared to no wheel well gap in the back....i also used to have 16's with 205/45 size tires which were low pros...so the gap looked much bigger due to this (was actually smaller than the stock 15's with size 60 tires)....
To fix this i took a hacksaw to the front springs...it looked much better...however the springs now don't fit flush into the strut....i kinda made it fit...so for now it's all good...
my suggestion to you is the coil-overs...with adjustable struts

Am I missing something here? The OEM Ford part numbers for the front springs are the same for both the Duratec and the Zetec Cougars. It's the same spring........

Yes.. it is the same spring.. no there are not I4 specific springs.. no the weight difference won't adjust the height..

good thinking....

also, if you look at the duratec with lowering spring or stock springs even....take notice to the wheel well gap in the front which is usually larger than the back...only exceptions i've seen are from coil overs, or large wheels that CAN make it less noticable

B&G makes two diffrent springs for the cougar one for the 4 and one for the 6
the 6 cyl is about 250 heaver in the front then in the 4 cyl you will have more gap unless you get coil overs

That's interesting Al, I didn't know B&G made two different sets of springs. Does the I4 springs adjust ride height.....or is it just a lighter spring rate to adjust for the reduced weight?
