So if I let my car idle or whatever... it will missfire a whole bunch and almost seem like its going to stall.. thats very odd. It does this to when I step on the gas... it eventually catches and goes really well from 3k on up.

Lastly today was the oddest thing I have ever seen. While I was idleing for a while and the sputtering thing was happened.... my LCD display(the one with the time and temp) started to "bleed" I guess. It started to turn all black and is was really wierd. I turned off my car... and then it kinda stopped and reversed the process. THe pools of black stuff just went back into the display and dissappeared.

Wierd huh!:drama:

any ideas?

sounds similar to a problem I had with my Cavalier. wasen't the smoothest idle. Once in a while whn I would step on the gas it would almost die, stumbling all over itself. Ended up being a plugged Converter. My CEL came on towards the end. Was so plugged up it was confusing the O2 sensor....

this happened to me just the other day! It was one of my spark plug wires that was fried...
i went to a buddy's shop and he hooked it up to the diagnostic computer that told me the misfire was on cylinder 2...
without that it would have been a hassle to track it down...i thought i would have to change the plug, but before i did that, i just tried changing the wire (obviously much easier), and that fixed the problem...

What type of mods do you have that have to do w/ your air fuel ratio (injectors, chip etc..)?

To all- this story was hella-funnier about the bleeding LCD when heard from Tony's own mouth:rofl: Anyway- I got no help on that one.

This I can help on though- you told me you suspected the Alt. was going. Well, the dtc 9318 (correct me if wrong) is for low voltage. I havent had that since getting the new alternator. It'll go away when you fix the alternator though I doubt the alternator will fix the idle issue. I'd look to emisions since that seems to be the easiest way to confuse these computers nowadays. LOL- maybe that ford tech was right yesterday that I told ya about... J/K;)

Good luck.

My car does the EXACT SAME THING. And so does another Mass/Conn member with a stock Coug. Unfortunately, I wont have the cash and the means (it's freakin 15F degrees here right now) to play around with plugs, wires, O2 sensors, etc. until Spring.

If you find the problem let us know or PM me with it. We're tryin to use the other member's car and the dealer to try and figure this out since she's still under warranty. If we get it, we'll let you know.
