Does anyone know a way of modifying the exhaust to weld twin pipes onto it or a diagram of a Y piece
Cheers in advance

Not sure, best thing for the exhaust system on the cougar is to just replace it!!
I've just received my YoDude with Flowmaster muffler and will let you know how it sounds as its being fitted on Thursday.
Ford did a free health check on my car, they lifted the car and let me stroll around underneath it, the exhaust is pretty restricted for example there are 2 pre-cats then the main cat from there there are what looks like 3 silencers!!!
YoDude do a replacement Y-Pipe with removable cat, that may be what yer after? If anything they have pictures which may help you in your welding mission
Cheers

I have been speaking to Rage exhausts who can supply all the bits to make the Y pipe.
I'll probably sort it between Xmas and new year when I have some time (hopefully)
Did yours sound coool with the twin exhausts I heard they sound awesome with the V6

If you go on to the YoDude website you can listen to some of the exhausts fitted to a V6 Cat....

Has your mpg increased, have you noticed yet?....ie, less restriction in your exhaust.
I like the look of your ram air box, I was going to make one to enclose my K+N filter, mainly to prevent all the dust from getting into the engine bay.
Gareth now this is what i call a Power Curve!!!:biggrin:

Yer right, the standard Cougar has a nasty dip at around 3000rpm, as far as mpg goes I will let you know I normally judge it by how many miles it states on the computer I have left when I fill the car up. Will let you know if it increases or not but Yodude claim it will give around 1-3mpg or something
Damo can you recomend a chip or should I go for that Weapon R ecu?
Gareth
If i was you i would have the factory ECU Re-mapped by Superchips that way you don't have to have any piggy back modules plugged in, this is what i had done to mine, the problem with our ECU's is that they control everything the car does including climate control, immobilizer, abs etc so fitting an aftermarket ECU will cause problems, i was going to get a Motec ecu and digital dashboard but again it would not work properly so i am not going to bother.

Has anyone posted pictures of a RAM air system, is it easy to do a homemade one?

Looking at the Ford Technical information system on the V6 it has CAT's on the manifolds and a secondary cat on the main exhaust. On the american site they were talking about bypassing the second cat by smashing it from the outside as the Cougar will pass emmisions even in Florida and California with just the first CAT's.
Does this mean I can remove the second CAT and get away with it, anybody tried it?
Yes i have MSDS Ceramic manifolds and they don't have any pre-cats, i also have removed the standard cat and i now have a hi flow cat fitted.

Yes, as long as you warm up the engine before the MOT it should pass with no problem.

Does this also work with leaving the precats in and removing the secondary cat?
