I have the standard lamp assembly in my 2001, and I really want that overhead assembly with all of the warning lights and stuff. Does anyone know if I would have the sensor wires and such already up there, so that I could switch it out and just plug it in, or does Mercury not install that harness unless the 'sport/ultimate' package is on the car?
Any ideas would be appreciated, as I'm looking to order the part tomorrow if it's at all possible to do.

on my 2000 the sensor wires were not up there, I was looking to do the same thing, and checked THOUROUGHLY;) while I had my entire interior stripped out (including the headliner and pillars) and there wasn't anything up there:shrug:

I have the non-sports package Coug as well... I ended up getting the overhead console from another member here... the map light assembly will pop right into your existing console but you can replace the entire thing easily but all you have to do is trim away part of your headliner with some heavy duty shears until it fits... unfortunately the wiring plug is not there and I could not figure out a way to splice it in... what I will most likely end up doing is getting some custom icons made and putting some LEDs back there... I figured that if I rig it up to a switch and do something cool with it that it might be a good show option... :)

If you do ever finish that up, I'd love to see some pics... I contacted the dealership, and they are willing to sell me the harness that runs to the relay box, then to the ECU, for about 150 bucks... I figure I can wire it myself, shouldn't be a huge problem, but it will be interesting to see if all of the sensors (which the dealership said are present) are actually there.
Should be a fun project.

The only thing above the headliner was the fiberglass frame for it (which it is attached to) and on the doors, there was some material that looks as if it could be removed, although I forget what it was for right now:shrug: Would only save you a couple pounds at most though to take the stuff behind the doors out though....

Since it doesnt get cold enough for my temperature sensors to light up, I had thought about some system indicators, like neon light on/off indicators or amplifier indicators, just for the show and sometimes I forget to turn off some external sources and the lights would be like a reminder, BUT my problem is I just dont want a solid light, I want some sort of cover with like a symbol or icon ....and luk on making any?
yeah, you can make covers.....ask fett, he has them

yes... and I am gonna get Bryan from Intricate Lines to make me some new indicators.... does that mean that there would be an actual demand for something like this besides for myself?

Absolutely! I would take a set, and I have a buddy that would be just as interested.

1. Door Ajar (we've already got the relay done, so it's going to be easy to light) - orange
2. Main Aux Power on [label: Main] - green
3. Neon On [label: Neon] - blue
4. Sub On [label: Sub] - yellow
5. Security On [solid red, maybe with pic of a lock] - red
Just some ideas, but those would be the ones that I would like.

Hehehe... I have the VCN2000 with the display, so no icon for me for NO2
I just dug this up out of nowhere. Did you guys ever get little icons made? I'd be interested in picking up an OHC so.

wow... this is old... yea... I could have B make you whatever you want... someone just needs to send that area in as a protype for an overlay...
I'll see what I can do. I still have to get my hands on one of the overhead consoles. I am trying to search junkyards first. If not, have to turn to ford parts online :)

Ok I found an overhead console from a salvage yard out of state. They said to make an offer so I'll try to work something out. I am trying to make sure they include the hardware as well as the wiring (Harness). Anything else I should check for?
Thanks!
Cancel that idea. Got a call back today saying they broke it while removing. GREAT!

anyone have part numbers for the overhead console (not the maplight fixture) and the wire harness to connect up non aux warning cougs to aux warning just to verify what i THINK it is
