Hey, all.
Eleven weeks after bringing this beautiful blue piece of metal home, I finally decided to see what she can do. I usually beat everyone off the line, but I don't floor it or anything, so I'm pretty used to being ahead. Here's what happened:
I pull up to a light at a major intersection, music blaring quite a bit louder than usual. This guy next to me, probably 18 or 19, is in a Chevy truck, some behemoth of a vehicle compared to my Coug. He cranks his (c)rap up to outdo my music, and I know it's on. Light goes green, and we go. I'm in an ATX, so I shifted myself.
Got across the intersection at 4500 or so, dropped into 2nd. He's right with me, I'm guessing his engine displacement is about the size of my car. I drop into drive, and go well ahead of him with some deft maneuvering around other cars. :biggrin:
So, as far as I'm concerned, it's over; I tap the brakes. Not even close... I watch this guy in my rear mirror for about a minute, he's ever-so-slowly gaining on me. I'm going 45 in a 35, and by the time he passes me, he's doing probably 60 or 65. Tap the O/D off button and haul ass forward, of course changing it to a nice, angry teenage CD:evil:
I hit 90 or so, pass him, and tap the tail lights. Had to turn off then, but I'm fairly sure he would have tried again.
Not sure whether or not to be proud, but that was fun.
