Who would be interested in a carbon fiber front wind diffuser? I am looking to produce them for the following Cougar applications.
Street Weapon Drift front bumper
Aerogear Millenium front bumper
Aerogear Battle front bumper
Aerogear Aeroextreme front bumper
99-00 OEM front bumper
01-02 OEM front bumper
Below is a link to an example pic of what these look like. They would be 100% real carbon fiber with a high gloss finish and 6 ounce fiberglass backing to make it strong. They would attatch to the car with bolts under the bumper and use OMP splitter stabilizer brackets. Estimated cost would be $350 including the stabilizer brackets and mounting bolts.
** NOTE: The stabilizers run $25 for a pair

I would be I saw a couple of companies that were selling universal ones but I figured that they wouldnt fit right so if you make one specifically for the Xtreme front I will get one!!

Looks good! How difficult would it be to take on and off a stock '99 oem bumper??

it would be designed to attatch with 4 main bolts plus the 2 stabilizer bars. Initial install would take less than an hour and if you wanted to be able to pull it off and reinstall it later it would be a 10 min job. I have all the bumpers listed here at my shop except oem bumpers but i do have access to a 99 oem bumper and would just need a template created for the 01+ cars. I am sure I'd be able to gain access to one of those locally as well.
I am building a prototype tomorrow in the shop while I work on the Aeroextreme sideskirts.

none for the dragon-z? can you possibly have some made where they just show up on the left and right corners instead of across?

I am not 100% sure but I believe it creates downforce for the front, just like a wing does on the rear of the car.

I could produce winglets for the dragon z bumper. they would be cheaper than the fla splitters.
the splitters are used in touring car racing fro downforce and they look really sweet :)
any thought about making one for the no limit front.....please??
could you make them out of something else besides carbon fibre??
thanks

I will likely fabricate universal side splitters that would make the price lower as I'd be able to sell them to pretty much any sport compact owner.

how would those be mounted? just bolt to the bottom lip of the dragon-z? i was trying to think of a way to still use stabilizers still. looks like too much work for side ones.
StreetConcepts

The dragon Z splitters would be bolt on only.

So I understand correctly the wind diffuser is the part on that Eclipse that says GREDDY on it right?
Craig: I have the Roush springs on my car and it sits pretty low right now with the Aero Extreme front bumper
the cars front will sit about 2.5 or so inches off the ground.
Will that thing even fit under the front bumper???
MileHighCougar
11-19-2002, 05:39 AM
It will fit it is only like a couple of cm thick it would depend how much downforce deflection you set it for, you would have to be very careful though!!
StreetConcepts
11-19-2002, 06:46 PM
Yes indeed you'd need to be careful. It's going to look so wicked though when it's done. These really give a car a race look and the high end performance compact guys have been running them for about a year now. The first time I saw the splitter on Chad's Eclipse was when his car went to elite status in my head :) It really finished off the look of his new kit and molded flares so well.
On a side note the material is ordered for the splitters and I will be offering a discount for the first 5 orders.
The side splitters will be less and I will determine price once prototypes are finished.
Initial price for the first 5 buyers will be $350 plus $20 shipping
I already have the first sheet of carbon made and it is 100% flawless. The finish looks like glass and the weave is perfect. These will be reinforced with 10 ounce thick fiberglass matte and I expect to have the millenium splitter completed and installed by sunday.
After the first 5 have been sold they will be available through James at www.customcougars.com at $399 plus shipping. I am shooting to have 5 of each design shipped to him in time for the Christmas rush.
If you'd like to get in on the first 5 orders please send me an e-mail and let me know what bumper you have.
The discount will be for the following applications only
Street Weapon
99-00 OEM Bumper
Aeroextreme
Millenium
Applications coming in the next 6 weeks will be
Dragon Z
Visteon
01-02 OEM Bumper
Battle Series
and you will be doing the NO LIMIT one when???:banghead:
StreetConcepts

if you can send me a posterboard template of exactly what you want it to look like I can do it anytime :)
I would not do a solid splitter if it were mine i'd do a side splitter that would extend out approx 2-3 " from the center prior to the indent out to the edge and make them stationary without the stabilizers

StreetConcepts
12-11-2002, 04:48 PM
I will be able to do aluminum versions but need to get a price list on materials together. Get in touch with me after christmas and I should be able to help then.
I will finally be assembling a splitter on friday evening. I was going to do this last saturday evening but got tied up at the shop I'm working at doing remote car starters for the christmas season. I did not get home till after 11:00 and was not in any shape to go work on carbon after a 15 hr day :)
