I have 99 silver and i was thinking of painting the interior instead of buying the kit. Anyone have any advice on how to do it so it doesnt look tacky? Ive seen alot that look good, but im not the most frequent painter:shrug: thanks for the tips guys, appreciated

I know not all will agree, but I think painting dash looks much better and cleaner than dash kits. They both look stunning from a little distance away, but close up the thickness created by sticking dash kits over the existing dash looks kinda funny.
If you're not a painting person (much like myself), bring the pieces to a bodyshop and let them do it for you. That what I did, I had a bodyshop match my interior pieces (all pieces that are grey, ie. vent circles, either side of the steering wheel, and the center console) painted dark tourmaline green and clear-coated to match my exterior color. I've been getting nothing but compliments from my passengers.

Alright Ryan, I'm going to be your favourite person for the next few minutes :)
First off... Heres how you remove the dash. (http://atomicinternet.homeip.net/teamneco/listHOW.asp?RecordID=1)
I was like you and had no clue how to do it, that how to worked excellent for me.
Second, the better your prep work - the better the final product will be,
It took me 2 weeks working on and off to do my ENTIRE dash, so expect to take your time.
clean the peices, sand them if they are rough, prime them well... really well... then paint with your color that you picked.
dont put too heavy a coat on at a time... spray lightly in "sweaping" movements... wait for it to dry (but not TOO dry)
maybe 15 minutes between each time you spray.
after that, putting on a clear coat is always a good idea... makes it a bit more shiney :)
then let it dry... ALOT... like 2-3 days or something. Just be careful putting it back in the car so you dont scratch it.
if your really hardcore... there are some people who WAX their dash to make it even MORE shiney. but wait something like a month before doing that.
Hope this all helps :)
i got more dash pictures - here (http://www.angelfire.com/realm/ofmatt/Car/Black_Cougar_Interior.html)
