ok i got a hood scoop from a group buy that was held... well i got it painted and it started like bubbling or whatever... so we got it sanded down again and re-painted and now its starting to do it again... anyone that got a hood scoop have the same problems or is it just me???

It's sounds kinda like it wasn't prepped/painted correctly.

Make sure your sanding it down nice and smooth. Using a good primer, couple coats of paint, a good 3 coats of clear coat.

Yeah.. I would take it somewhere else.. your dad must know a few people.. hell.. he could probably do it himself.. he's got the knowledge..

try painting it yourself to see if it holds......the same company that made the grill inserts made the scoops, and if you check the GB section on the OZ inserts, one of them has theirs painted allready and you could ask them about the prepping or paint....just a thought.

Hooven, I have my hood scoop painted and installed from that GB, and it has 3 pinhead sized holes in the paint as well. All it is is poor prep in that area. The scoops needed to be filled and sanded a few times to make sure all the holes were filled. I would make them basically start over and fill the holes and then resand it all. Thats about the only way to make it totally smooth. Heck I even had a chip in mine and they fixed it with bondo and it looks brand new! If you need anything else PM me.

Yes bad prep job
the primer wasnt totally dry and then later the paint starts to bubble
the shop musta been in a hurry both times
