well, i intend to drive my cougar until it's dead. Then I will continue to swap in ridiculously powerful engines and performance mods until i spend myself out of house and home or until my wife leaves me (if i ever get one) ;) I will preserve the cougar for posterity, and show my children one of the most beautiful cars ever to come off and assembly line. :) there will be cars after the cougar, but none to replace her. My list should more appropriately be called "other cars i wouldn't mind being seen in"

i) Ford F-150 SVT Lightning (this will be my winter beater)

ii) 2003 Mustang Cobra Convertible (I've always wanted a convertible and this would nice to tool around in during the summer when the cougar is getting the aforementioned ridiculousy expensive mods put into it)

iii) Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade (I'm almost certain I'm gonna go thru a phase in life where I'm gonna wanna say I'm ridin on dubs)

iv) At some point I'd like to buy and restore an older car, either a late 60's, early 70's muscle car, or possibly and 84 formula firebird t-top so i can build a replica of knight rider

don't worry, i don't care if anyone thinks i'm retarded to wanna rebuild K.I.T.T. or use and SVT Lightning as a winter beater, it's not like I haven't heard it before

i dont know ... i'm keeping my fingers crossed that ford will bring out another cougar, if they dont, i will probably buy something with AWD, i'l kill for a 98 A4, but i would really like to rebuild a 86 325I, when i was 7 that was my i gotta have that car when i'm older, so i'm gonna try and make it happen.

I would not get rid of my car either
but other cars i would like to own

1979 Ferrari GTS - Red, tan leather interior
1973 Corvette Stingray - Corvette Yellow, T-Top, Black Leather
Lincoln Navigator (Black on Black with the Chrome rims)
Mark 8 (Black on Black with the Chrome Rims)
1967 GTO Ragtop - Electric Blue, White Leather interior, White Ragtop

Other than the navigator, I wanna put the wrench time into them

Hopefully an Impreza WRX. If I end up having to commute 40 minutes to work in the morning, a 2004+ Toyota Echo. One of my friends got one and did 400km on half a tank! Wtf?!
But a white WRX with a FMIC and CF hood would kick so much ass

My dads Golf TDI does 1000 or + kms per tank

And I'm sorry to tell you this but 40 mins is not a long drive to work! Try going for 2 hours each way and I know people who have longer drives than that! :(

If I were to get a new car today it would be a Mustang or an Eclipse (the commercial is just so damn cool!!!).
If it was in the next year or two I'd get a new Cougar IF they come out. But in maybe 20 years I want a 456 parked in my driveway!!

Here's one of my pick's.

1971 Hemi Cuda in Plum Crazy Purple with the Slap-Stick 4 speed.

Gotta love the sound a hemi makes. I've got more as well.

Depends on the $$ Situation at the time. But it will be one of the following, since it is official that the Cougar is gone...it is off of the Ford Canada Website.

Cars:

Cadilliac CTS
Hyundai Santa Fe
Nissan Mamima

I'd have to say another Focus. Given the money, economy, performance, handling, etc., it's tough to beat. Maybe I'll consider a Jetta 1.8T as well. If I could, I'd get an SVT and keep another as my commuter beater. Better yet, I'll find a donor V6 from a Cougar or Contique and make a 170 Jetta fighter :). Oh well.

But if that Mondeo ever comes over here, I'd be a willing partaker.

Other than that, nothing else really appeals to me.

PS> I saw a new Accord today. Ew.

New accord coupe is half decent now. 220hp and a 6 spd. Supposedly as fast as the new altima.

Honestly, I've given serious thought to getting my hands on a Delaurean and fixing it up. No, it has nothing to do with the movies. I actually saw one before the first movie ever came out and in 1984 it was WAAYY ahead of it's time in style. Now it's a great mix of future / modern / retro all wrapped up into one cool car.

All I can say is.... unique custom mods for a Delaurean.... one day in the next couple years. I'm already looking a bit for good deals on one. Anyone have any other sources?

Only drawback is if I get one, the Cougar won't get modded any more. I'll treat it as my road car and just work on the Delaurean. In fact, I may rip out my cool lighting **** and transfer it to the Delaurean.

thinking about it...............

delaureans, considered a novelty vehicle by many, can be picked up relatively easily at auction in the US. was watching a big show re: classics and auctions etc. delorean tends to be more affordable than some others - the one that went at auction that they showed sold at somewhere between 8-10 g's us. consider the fact that due to limitted manufacture and company failure, parts may be an issue. parking it is also an issue, due to the door design. stainless steel means no rust, but relatively heavy curb weight.

don't know if any of this helps you....

Engine parts and some chassis parts are not too bad for those cars, mostly GM...Body parts are another problem.
