1) I have an aftermarket deck which says it supplies 52X4 amplifier. Will this do for aftermarket speakers? Do I HAVE to get an amp for these speakers or will this head unit be alright?

2) I want to relocate my battery to the trunk. All I have to do is extend the cables to the trunk and put the battery in a battery box?

edited 3) My head unit also has RCA outputs. Should I use that to hook up the aftermarket speakers, or just stick with the regular speaker wire?

thanks for the help

1) Is that 52W max or RMS? Most probably its max, and since most aftermarket speakers have higher RMS than that, I would suggest getting an amp. Speakers that are powered by a separate amp would sound better than speakers powered by a headunit, regardless of the HU's power rating.

However, this is not a necessity and primarily a matter of preference. As long as you determine the RMS your headunit puts out and match that to your aftermarket speakers, you will be fine.

2) Yes. Here is a kit (http://www.spmotorsports.com/contour_battery.html).

3) You will only use your RCA outputs if you are hooking up an amp to power your speakers or subs. The RCA's are low-level (un-amplified) outputs meant to be hooked up to an external amplifier for better signal transfer (no noise/distortion from the HU's amplifier).

To hook up your speakers, you should use the speaker wire currently going to your stock speakers. There are wiring harnesses available around $5 a pair (IIRC, they are the ford harnesses also used on Mazdas).

Goodluck!
