View Full Version : Transmission - 5k but only 30 mph

This is an old problem and can't seem to find the answer. For those that don't know, the tranny will rev very high but not really go anywhere. I asked a friend and he said that the valve body might be a possible solution. Any explanations would be helpful as to who have had it fixed.

When cruising or when accelerating from a stop?

Both. I'd be driving and park for a bit. Come back out of wherever and try to go and it does it. Also, one time when I was driving about 55 I felt "something (don't remember exactly)" and heard my intake start sucking in air and then I tried to pass the person and it just would not go.

First of all how many miles do you have on it? I would take it to tranny shop as soon as possible sounds like you might need overhaul... that's almost exactly what happen to the stang I use to own... You may have overheated it at some point in time and burned up the fluid... at the very least you see about taking it in to get serviced... gl hope there isn't too much bad news...

It all started happening after ford put the flexplate in. I took the tranny in right after it happened and they checked it but said nothing was wrong.
I hav 54,000 miles on it now. It first happened at about 32,000.
