I would definetly be interested if I lived there, but I dont. You can also try the Ford Contour, it has the exact setup as the Cougar for "air". I have a CTA intake now, but if you guys at Weapon-R can come up with a better one, Im all for that.

Leo, we may have someone for you who is from the Palo Alto/Menlo Park area, so they are close by. He should be contacting you within a day to get details.

Aem cold intake for the focus fits the cougar all you have to do is goto your spped shop and get
a 2 in to 3 in rubber fitting that is what i did to my injen intake

you sure bout the AEM cold air?? I have the short ram and had a beotch of a time enough fitting it with good hood clearance....and i would think engine compartment space and plumbing for it would be different for a cold air...i havent tried it because thats a chunk of change i didnt wanna spend on a possibility...

What are you planning on doing differently than the CTA intake?

No prob. I just talked with him on the phone and he said he'll talk to you about doing it on friday or something. :) I'll take this to PMs if there's anything else needed.

You can always send the intake out east and me and James can tear it apart and have some fun

As for the difference with CTA and Weapon R....i'd assume the weapon R would have the ability to turn into a system, meaning you can add things like the cold air box, possibly dryer tubing ram air ;)

Got an idea of what price would be initially?? At $139....the CTA does have an advantage, he'd have a bigger one if he'd just sell the piping :wiggle:

looks like it's going to be the same price as the V6 cougar intakes.

Is the gain going to be worth that ~$175-$225 for the Gain on the 4-Cyl Cougars??

87% increase in price over a CTA for what appears to be a painted hybrid of a ZX2 intake and CTA...

Certainly not making me want to switch out my CTA...

I do, however, like the heat shield/box. That's pretty nifty. Not worth $120 more but nifty.

But see what cta DOESN"T have is that small metal box making it resistant to heat! the temp difference AT the IAT is approximately 40-50 degrees cooler, engine bay temp is normally around 160degrees... imagine that getting sucked into the engine when you floor it!

when i get it totally fitted and am doing some road tests for leo, ill get it dyno'ed and try to do some minumal temp ratings and such to let you all know whats down

All it takes is some sheetmetal work and some rivets, and you got it.

Is Weapon-R gonna sell the cold air box by itself? And hey Ninja, if at all possible, try and do some dyno runs with and without the heatshield so we can know how much it really works! Thanks

TheNinja

sure thing dog. im gonna be using my ghetto gtech thingy, unless i can manage to have weapon-r pay for me at a true dyno shop... im to broke otherwise ;)

Agreed. make the heatsheild available as an add on part and sell it for $30- $40 and you would have some customers.

Also, what's the deal with the plenum above the TB?

TheNinja

that ghetto black box thingy goes... basicially everything before the TB is gone... replaced with new stuff! :D

I mean why is the big black plenum replaced with a smaller balck plenum. My CTA feeds directly into the TB...

Do you think the cold air box would fit on the CTA?

ProjectCougar
10-15-2002, 08:48 PM
How did I know this was gonna happen...

Honest answer... NO ONE knows since no 4Cyl has the cold air box...

tdford

You knew someone was going to ask that right. :D Well you know, it would be cool if it did, because most of us have spent the money on the CTA and instead of buying a whole new system, I'd rather add on. If they want to send someone one to try, I surly will.
