I have only seen this in one cougar, looks as if the airbag was completely delted. Forever untill you remove your guages and revert back to the airbag.

Is this what you are talking about in the upper righthand corner?

Yes, it is.
I need to know if it is danger for the passenger in accidents.
Can it damage the Airbag when the pod is open in the accident moment?

if you were to install this i would assume you would take the airbag completely out. but seeing as how i have not done this it is only an assumption.

if the air bag remains useable, then in the terrible case that it would be needed i would assume your gauges are going to go through the windshield and not affect your passenger at all...unless the weight of the pod is to heavy to let the airbag function properly..i highly doubt that would happen though...there is a hell of a lot of explosive force behind an airbag..and i am pretty sure the airbag explodes from the bottom of the dash rather then the top of it...in other words the cover flips up rather then toward the passenger down..

Please, explain it, I donīt speak English very well.
Did you say that you know 3 persons who have an accident with airbag activation and the gauge pod work well without problems?

no that is not what he is sayin....

first off there is only 1 of those air bag gauge pods...i believe..it was a one off thing for project cougar that has since been sold..

what he was saying is that he has seen 3 totaled cougars and all there air bags flip up..(which only makes sense)...therefore if you had the pod and some how kept your airbag active then then in an accident needing your airbags, your pod woud go through the windshield..

Actually James has been selling them for a few months now. However in his description of them it is unclear wether or not you place the bag back in. Meankat would definately be the one to ask on this one, being he's had them for some time now.

you have to remove the airbag completely.or at least unplug it. it would be a serious danger to anyone in the car for the airbag to explode thru splintering fiberglass and metal and/or plastic guages. once you take out the airbag you need an airbag simulator to plug into the airbag wiring harness to "trick" the computer into thinking the airbag is still there or else the airbag warning light will illuminate on your guage cluster

you need the airbag simulator (http://www.airbagsystems.com/disconnect.htm) not the disconnect kit

hope that info helps

couldn't you just reenforce the back of the fiberglass with sheet metal or something to prevent that?

i suppose you could if you would like to turn your airbag cover into a giant stilleto...lol

airbags generate mucho initial explosion force. the steel would just turn into a great big knife blade!
