I posted a quick HowTo (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=13&threadid=50130&highlight_key=y&keyword1=bent) a month or so back. Might want to check it out before spending another dollar or another minute on the problem.

It's not just under the ac knobs. The piece goes around the knobs and up to the steering wheel. Don't break it. It's probably worth alot of cash. Why can't u just take you dash apart? then it would come out. You could probably get the bottom of that piece out enough so that you could put something back there to push the tabs???? Then the stereo would come out. But if you really wanna break it get the carbon fiber one from street concepts

i tried taking the whole dash out, cant because there are screws behind the stereo =[... can you send some pics of this done to your car with the instructions, i got to the 4-5th step and was stuck figuring out which parts you pushed.

You have to put a screwdriver up underneath the dash when you have your console out. Then push the bent clips on the side of the deck with that screwdriver just like in how to a couple posts up.

Or you can do what we (koreanboi and I) ended up doing, and just snapping the clips off the one side that wouldn't come out. I don't know what the guys who originally tried to take it out did to them, but the prongs were all kinds of bent. They were beyond salvageable repair, so we ended up just snapping the 4 prongs (on the passenger side of the unit)off, pushing the stubs down, and slipping the unit out. Not the ideal way to do it, but it worked. :flushed:
